car cigarette lighter socket

Mine is 2000 Staurn LS model. When I connect my GPS DC car adapter to the car cigarette lighter socket, one below the dashboard,adpator doesnt work.But the same adapter works when connected to the socket present behind the gear shift. Where should I check in the car to rectify this particular problem.

i think your in the wrong section as this is for S-series, not the L-series.

however, id check the fuses. im not sure how the l-series is, but it may be possible the two cigarette lighters are on 2 seperate circuits :)
