2003 merc. sable: zero clearance?

I have a 2003 sable, 3L V6 DOHC. Just wondering if it was a zero clearance type engine where engine damage would result if the timing belt broke.

You should have a timing chain in that engine, not a belt. Although chains last longer than belts, they can still go without warning. At the 100k mark replace it. In answer to your original question it is a non-interference design.
