Well, the torture is over. How did I improve perfection? Was I for real when I said it was a lot better? Was I joking when I said I stripped off quite a number of panels and re-did them?

You be the judge...

Presenting the Phantom Predator!!!!!!!

Note 1: Former name=Phantom ZX-2000
Note 2: The difference between many of the images is you can select whether you want the top up or down, and you can select style 1 or 2 of teh rims and spoiler.

Lookin' great. I just don't like either pair of rims :bloated:

MancuZ28
02-15-2003, 12:49 PM
yeah, wheels are still lookin pretty boring. And I wish you could do something about the window frames, i still think they look pretty awkward with the top down, but i understand that it would be hard to design around frameless windows. Lookin great though, do you have some views of the new rear coming soon?

DSi
02-15-2003, 01:50 PM
that is crazy:eek:
What did you use to do that?
I got to say you got a nice technique but the design is a bit outdated like from mid 90s:( ,Fords "new edge" lines can be seen in almost any recent car, also the concept a of a supercar does not sell much in this days, try a crossover instead;)
nice work:sun: is this your first?

SWEET SUGA... I'll take two...

PhantomDesign
02-15-2003, 04:11 PM
Thanks for the replys so far. I'll try to think of how I can do it without the frame around the window, but it'll be dificult if the window will go up and down. If any of you have any ideas for rims, post a link.

Just a little reply to "DSi" There's no such thing as outdated unless it is crap. Nothing becomes truly out dated unless it was crap to begin with, and people only liked it because it was new. The Predator concept was designed to contrast my ZX-1000 concept.

For example, smooth, straight, blonde hair n chicks will never be outdated. Shorter than sholder length black hair will be out dated. The VW Bettle will be outdated(again) the McLaren F1 LM will NEVER be out dated. The Phantom Predator will NEVER be out dated. Get the idea?

DSi
02-15-2003, 05:10 PM
Dont get me wrong I like what you are doing but there are design waves that rule during certain periods. I thought the same way as you, look at the 300zx nice car, nice design will never die but the 350 is a step forward and it is not the same style.I saw your first one, looks like mclaren met F50 and NSX, second design has grown and looks better and I cant tell that is a mix of something, usually the first idea evolves several times and you are in phase 2.

I read you pretend to sell this, you already have thinked about some technical issues that I think are nice, but who can be your potential buyer? Supercar production lines are limited that why I suggested what seems to be the next generation of vehicle: crossovers but any design you do is fine just keep them coming theyll evolve in time

see some of concept sketches in here
http://www.cardesignnews.com

PhantomDesign
02-15-2003, 05:31 PM
No, I wasn't reading you wrong...I hope I didn't sound harsh.

I kniw it'll be ahrd to get this design into production just becasue there are so few cars of their class actually in production.

But, think if U owned a car company. You've been thingign of makign a supercar, but you don''t have the confidence in your team of stylists to produce something atleaset as good looking as other vehicles out there. Then you compe across my design. Basically you have the finished product nfromt of your eyes. You don't have to wonder if it'll be good lookign or not. You know that Sketches can B.S., and folwery words fro myour design department can B.S. The only thing that can't B.S. is a physical model or a 3D rendering.

Sure a few things may need a little tweaking, but that should not bother a billion dollar comapny.

Basically, It's likely this design will eventually sell (unless I make a better one soon), but it'll require a ton of patience on my end.

I'm currently trying to use this car design to showcase my skills to car companies, and see if they're interested in any design partnerships. Even if yhet can't use the Phantom Predator, they can still see my unmiistakable skill.

Right now I'm lookign for a design partnership for a car design that the production model would sell for $75,000 U.S. to $150,000 U.S. Basically I'd design the car while in constant communication with the company, and the end result would be perfect (engineering specs & "no" stylistic flaws).

DSi
02-15-2003, 05:35 PM
then .....you got skills
search for specialized schools, jobs, and scholarships in the previous link that I posted ......also to get companies attention forecast their actual models they could actually be more interested in that

Rims...

For rims check out www.tires-n-parts.com
look under Wheels.
Ideas - The car is slick-round with sharp angles in it. So shoud be rims. Car has a lot of holes in it(air ducts) so should rims. The top comes down so the rims should have big spaces in them. I think perfect fit would be chrome five-spoke rims with sharply shaped spokes bend in the middle so both equal pieces would have an angle in between about 135 degrees. But I wasn't able to find anything like that. Or it might be a black seven-spoke rims with wide lip.

Question do you all think I should connect the black areas which are around the exhaust pipes? I'd basically stretch it across.

PhantomDesign
02-16-2003, 09:33 PM
I'm going to add some realisim to the lights..as in make that cover slightly see-throught and add lights behind it.

Should I add a licence plate spot? I was thinking I wouldn't because that's complexity that doesnt add to the car at all.

Sure, im just saying, that i love the placement of everything, accenting it would still be cool too.

SuPeRcAr_MaN
02-16-2003, 09:42 PM
The exaust looks fine as it is. I think it would look good if it was stretched across too. Eiter way is fine. The license plate would fill some empty space on the rear, and you can actually put a logo on your car with it. I don't wanna point out any negatives on this car, but I tihnk you made the headlight a bit too rounded. They look a bit like the GX-1000 headlights.

BTW, that blue-green chameleon paint is amazing.

PhantomDesign
02-16-2003, 09:46 PM
Please do point out the negatives. I can say some pretty nasty things about the Ferrari F50, and hte Ferrari Enzo, but that doesn't change whether or not it's a kick @$$ car. Just don't say something like...

"Youe an arrogant prick. Your technique sucks. Your work is totally unorigional. Who do you think you are looser"

...then say nothing else.

I love critiques, and please include reasons..that's all.

hey Phantom, i found a program like 3ds max 4... Its called Zmodler V1.04.... its what people use to edit and remodle GTA3 cars for PC.:Dhttp://members.fortunecity.com/silver99si/Zmodler-screen-shot.jpg

That would probably be your best start. It would show you whether or noy you have the desire and capability to do 3D graphics, while it won't cost you $3000 or more.

Talk to other people who use it (GTA 3 fan sites), and practice modeling other things along the way.

Damn that thing looks hot.
But don't you think that the driver can't see the rear, or the sides very well. Just saying. Zoom the camera in and let's see a driver's point of view. I want to see the interior too.

PhantomDesign
02-18-2003, 07:47 PM
The driver uses cameras to see behind hte car. 1 on each mirror, and 1 on the very back of the car. There's another camera in the front of the car also.

The interior isn't very complete (sorry)

asnrefugee
02-18-2003, 07:53 PM
ohhh kool, i like to see the interior, cuz if I bought a car, it has to have a good interior. And the seats look a little too much leaned back. If you pull it forward a little, doesn't that make the driver look like granny. hehe. Can't really tell because the pictures don't show too much.

How big are the rims on the car? I would chang the rims though. Doesn't everyone?
Make big cross drilled rotors, cause the serve a purpose and looks hot too.

PhantomDesign
02-18-2003, 07:55 PM
I wouldnt worry about the interior cuzz whoever builds a car like this would have to get a tight-ace interior designer. A car lke this would come fully loaded...

SuPeRcAr_MaN
02-18-2003, 09:22 PM
I changed my mind about the headlights. They look great and fit the car perfectly. I still don't like the rims, but like the interior, the manufacturer will do their own thing.

BTW, How's the SUV coming along? ;)

PhantomDesign
02-18-2003, 09:27 PM
I need to do somethign about the rims....my custom styles don't quite hit people correctly. I think I'm going to rip off of a more typical super car style and see if that helps.

I'm not an interior designer yet...and I'm not completly sure if it would be worth my time.

The SUV design is in hold, but I'm thinking I'll start up again this weekend. It shouldnt take me long to "finish" it, but theres a lot of ideas in my head that need developing, so I expect it to be modified a lot after it's finished. Mostly increasing hte complexity and detail and features.

PhantomDesign
02-19-2003, 01:00 PM
Some pictures of the back....

I've started to compile a list for modifications for version 5.

So far...
1. Rims (make another style)
2. Remove window frame(door)
3. Rework Front Lights
4. Add grill to front 'intakes'
5. Add realisim to front and back lights
6. Rework convertable(It's an idea I had...should improve the convertable feature)
7. Improve tire material.
8. Increase front-grill-framing curve

The ratings in my pool have improved some. I hope to get them even higher in future versions.
Please vote in the new pool if you have not yet.

Phantom, you are changing the headlights again? I think they will be good once you add the realism. I think the brake lights will also look very good once the realism is added. I suggest a Ferarri type wheel. Keep us updated with the updates. :D

PhantomDesign

Actually, you might want the interior to have as little luxeries as possible. Many supercars who wish to achieve a low weight will often ditch the air conditioning... etc. The Acura NSX doesn't even have power steering.

I already have the convertable feature....might as well add the rest. A kick a** computer can run sound/dvd/car features/navigation/and more and will weigh only about 3 pounds or less.

If you wanted to stress perforamcne, you could remove all the extras, includign the convertable feature.

I've been doing some thinking...and I think I'm going to do a remodeling job on the Phantom that'll be about 3 times as much work as it was upgrading from version 3 to version 4.

Basically I'm going to be redoing some of the proportions, and I have an extremely awesome idea of how I could improve the convertible. You think the convertible is bad ace now? The new version will make your heart stop for a second or 2, and then will go racing at a few hundred miles an hour.

I think I'm going to make an animation of the top going down as my first release of version 5.

The other proportion stuff involves resizing and forming the front, and shortening the mid-section. This car has so much engine room it's kind of ridiculous...and after the shortening process, it'll still have more than enough.

Well, this project looks like it's going to extend past 3 months of work (2.75 so far), but it’s worth it. I guess I'm going for making this design unquestionably the best car ever. That means I'll need 75% of votes saying it's in the top 2 and 40% of votes saying its number one.

Yeah it's kind of slowing down my SUV project and my 2 sports car projects...but those can wait. I'll let those ripen a little longer in my head.

mwilken
02-19-2003, 11:13 PM
What talent. I must admit you have made a serious step forward with this newer version. One thing I might change would be the rear tires seem to stick out beyond the wheel wells. The first rock that hits my $200,000 car's fender and I am taking it back to the dealer. Great work. Keep us posted on your progress and let us look at any new stuff you are working on as well.

PhantomDesign
02-19-2003, 11:23 PM
Thanks for critique about the wheel...I'll think about what to do. I think that's jsut an easy to fix errror, but I'll have to take a closer look.

Version 5 has started. I can tell I've picked up a few more techniques while I was making my version 4 modification. I'm a bit faster and more accurate.

You guys will love the new convertable even more. You may ask how the hell can he improve that kick ass system that's never been used before? I'll give on one little secret. I reduced the ammount of weight of the drop top and space required to store it...but that's not the coolest feature.

pontiactrac
02-20-2003, 08:12 AM
Um, it's awsome... but there are some pretty incredible cars out there, Saleen S7, hard to beat in my opinion. It's like the supercar god in my eyes. Don't count on the unquestionable part, remember, you still haven't got to the weight, engine... etc. That's what makes a supercar. And it isn't as easy as it sounds. What material for the body would you use?
