ProJect: jDM Civic!

IM srpaying my Civic right now with some Tamiya LightGunMetal and i can see alot of difference from Testors and Tamiya. Tamiya sprays out a very good stream of paint. I am painting in with med. layers of spray and its coming out GREAT! Im letting it dry for 5 min after every spray for te next coat of paint.:D :)

yea, if u want a spoon civic, its only common sense to have spoon parts

I will have SpOon Parts on it, such as Spoon Carbon Fiber Front Lip, and soe Spoon Rims in like a month or so.... Dont have money to get them yet. And ill be having a Carbon fiber Hood and stuff like that. Is going to be like jDM. Not that much SpOon.

Sorry if you wrote this aready, but aren't you building the front lip from scratch?

Here is whut im doing to make it. Im just going to use the stock front lip and just add a little putty on it to make a shape of the front lip and im going to spray it Metallic Black, to make it look like Carbon Fiber.

I just finished painting my car with some Tamiya LightGunMetal and my paint job came out perfect! I cant wait until i can get pics to show u guys. Im just letting it dry outside in my Paint Booth i have. Im goin got Clear Coat my car tommorrow, so it has a extran shine to it.:D

Don't clear coat it tommarow, not until about 4 weeks have passed by. Your paint job will crack underneath if you clear the next day from my knowledge.

Because when you put the clear over it, it doesnt allow the paint to fully gas out, I cracked a $20 paint job becasue of this stupid move. Wait as long as you ca, do another kit while this one is drying ;)

it's Spoon, not SpOon, and it's Blitz, not BlitZ. but anyways, i have no idea why you're calling this a Spoon car right now. wait until you have Spoon parts on it to call it a Spoon Civic. and if it were a TRUE Spoon Civic, it would be yellow.

Wait, if it's spoon, then why are you puting an intercooler in the front. Spoon sports doesnt turbocharge thier cars. And forget about getting the fujimi spoon wheels, they don't look like spoon.

Blitz doesnt even make stuff for Hondas, at least not as far as turbo parts go.

Just to be safe, on my next kit, I'm gonna wait about 2 months. I'll build a fujimi curbside kit while I wait for my paintjob to dry :)

What if I put clear coat RIGHT after spraying the color? I remember somone did that and it worked. Any suggestions?

When I said within 10 minutes I meant within the range of ten minutes.

So yes, actually I guess thats the best way for impatient people, like me.

Do it, saves a lot of time and SO much better that waiting for 2 months.

When i clear coat i do it some times the same day i paint it! never ever ahd a problam with it either, i did it one time while it was snowing out side too! once again never had a problam


What that guy said about waiting 4 weeks is another Myth about modeling like you have to primer every thing u paint!

I clear coat when the model is dry, ive noticed the soone rthe better, the more oyu wait the more dust you get on a car then the more of the chance that you cant get the all the dust off!

It may be touch dry, but it does'nt mean that the paint has gased out completley. Don't you use testors paint?

He can d othis if he wants to, its just a risk. I've done the same thing as you and the paint did not crack. But a couple of people on this forum advised me just what I have just said.

Shorty made a mistake or we did, nobody told shorty what he needed to know before integra818 said anything.

Go ahead if you want to but, I'd stay on the safe side right now.

You can work on the suspension or the interior or another kit while waiting a month.

Your choice. ;)

We've already established it is going to be curbside with the intercooler, so what's the difference?

It's just the idea of him adding an intercooler to a a spoon civic, and spoon doesnt make turbo cars. true that it doesnt matter that it's curbside but a spoon chassis with an intercooler in the front does'nt look right

The difference is I think they think Shorty is putting a spoon engine in his civic. But the problem is that spoon engines are not turbo charged that is why it would seem stupid to have a spoon engine in with an intercooler.

But, I don't think Shorty is going to pretend that he has a spoon engine in there.

Color doesn't make it Spoon Civic. Blue and Yellow car is a demo car of the shop, so when talking about Spoon Civic, it's either the shop car, or customer car. His Civic is going to be a customer car. You can take a pink Civic to their shop, and install a complete Spoon parts and you can still call it Spoon Civic. ;)

I'm still trying to think about how to configure a Spoon Civic with a turbo.
But Spoon indeed makes aero parts, so you can have Spoon exterior with Top Fuel, HKS, Greddy or A'PEXi turbos, right?

1.) To answer all your questions you can have spoon engines in a car and it doesn't have to be blue and yellow, but at least you should put sponser deacls on your car.

2.) I don't think he was ever going to put an engine in there, he was going to keep it curbside and, pretend there was a turbocharged engine in there. Remember, pretend

my bro is going to school to paint cars and he said that you definitely dont wait 4 weeks to clear coat, if your paint cracks after you clear coat, it doesnt have to do with the clear coat, it has to do with some thing else!

Did you airbrush the Blitz thingy on your front mount intercooler?

Actually to tell u the truth, i didnt make that. FlyintheWall is making me one. And yes he Air Brushed a stencell of a BliTZ logo on it. I was going to have a BlitZ put in but u changed my mind and went with the APEXi GT Front Mount Intercooler instead, which one do u like better? The BlitZ on is a model Intercooler, and the APEX pic below is a real picture.

I was just wondering, if u did have a spoon engine could u put a turbo on it if u wanted too? and also someone said that if u took pictures it would be blurry, if they were blurry what would be the use of kodak even making the camera, depsosible cameras can work just as good as a cheap digital camera and sometimes clearer. So I say just use a desposible camera take the pics and scan them. this would make everyone happy.

Hey, to me, intercoolers are intercoolers and they all look cool.

But, I like the blitz intercooler better in general, but it would be more correct if you put the APEX intercooler in. Just my opinion.

he doesnt know why it cracks, my paint has never cracked before, though he doesnt know a lot about the spray paint that we use, but no matter what kind of paint oyu are using you should never wait that long to clear coat, I would wait till tomorow after noon before i clear coat

If he uses hobby paint to paint a real car, maybe true.
BUT!...
Unless it's a cheap family owned shop, where they use cheap spray cans, you paint a real car in a controlled environment with a perfect temperature and humidity that are specific to the kind of paint used. Plus, clear coat is two part urethane, and urethane doesn't shrink so much, which which has less risk of pulling underlying layer.

I just thought it over and, i think im not going to clear coat my car, cuz i dont want to mess up my perfect paint job. So... i guess im not going to. Does any one have any opinions whut parts i should put on my EG besides the parts that are on my Blueprint? Thanx:)
