Rear speaker covers

Can anyone help me remove the rear speaker covers? The cover is held flush to the rear deck with a inverted, toothed lock washer (for lack of a better description) that bites onto a molded plastic pin. Does that make sense? Anyway, do I need a special tool, or should I just cut off the molded pins and look for new covers?

9 times out of ten you should be able to just twist them off. they will unscrew like a normal nut and bolt system, but i they will not then just cut them off and find a good looking set of speaker grills to cover the hole with. But first try to spin them off, if you need to then just get some pliers that should work. good luck

I just used pliers to break them off and bought new bolts and screws at home depot for two bucks

Went through this myself last weekend. Fold down the rear seat backs and there's 2 black plastic rivet things that hold the back deck in. Pop them out, you can take off the rear door upper side trim off (I didn't) and you should be able to slide the deck off without taking the speaker covers off. I didn't want to take the door trim off so I just pushed up carefully on the deck to release the same type rivet things that hold the speakers in and just pulled the speakers out the gap. You just need to be careful when pushing up cause you could bend the deck beyond straightening. This works on a '94 anyway.

I had the same problems and I just ripped them right out of there, bought some real nice speakers with some nice covers and thats that. (Pioneer Rev series 225watt 6.5")
