I agree, but it isnt a bad vehicle. What they need to do is a rear-wheel drive V8 with some original Impala styling. Never bring back a legend and turn it into crap.

crap as compared to older impalas, yes. but its not like impalas are incredible sports cars, and anyone who trys to take one and make it all really fast an shit isnt any better than some ricer taking a civic and beefing it up. oh, and the new impalas are the best sedans on the road in its class.

Speaking of hostility; has anyone ever thought that the new Impala looks a bit like the Nissan Skyline GT-R 34?

Front & back?
ie.

I have two 2000 Impala LS's. One is bone stock. 139,000 troublefree miles. The other is nowhere near stock. Bought it used with 61k miles. Yanked engine. Balanced and blueprinted ($400), crossdrilled crankshaft ($125), turbo from Airesearch ($1,450 including intercooler and piping). Trans overhauled by friend to handle extra HP ($900). Another friend of mine reconfigured the ECM to eliminate the RPM limiter. For a total of less than 13K I have SMOKED everything that has run against me, up to and including the RWD Impala SS. 11.04 @ 123.6 at memphis motorsports park was my best timeslip. Loaded the family and drove it back home. Top speed on highway (GPS monitored) was 166. Tough to get those numbers, with that price tag, on any other car. Oh yeah, by the way...car now has 156K, still screams and averages 21 mpg doing it!!

My first car was a '67 Impala. I loved that car, and there will always be a place in my heart for the old full-size Chevys, especially the '67. I now drive an '05 Impala SS. The only similarity between the two cars is the name.

My '05 would, however, blow the doors off the old '67.

I think that feud is a bunch of hatin BS. If you don't like someone because they drive the same car as you, just a newer model; you probably don't like anybody. In my opinion the new body impalas look alot like the four door 98 honda accord. same style body lines & everything. p.s. nothing like an old school impala. but down here in dallas when its about 101 degrees outside, nothing like that brand new A/C cut all the way up to 5. I keep it so cold i have to put shawls in my car 4 my friends who can't take the cold
