At present I'm technically single ie I haven't made a commitment to anyone nor do I expect a commitment from another.

Single is not a bad place to be in many ways. Opportunities arise and being available means being able to enjoy them. On the other hand, there are some benefits that being single don't necessarily lend themselves to.

I have to admit that some of the choices I make in my lifestyle in terms of interests and the way I approach things doesn't lend itself to long term relationships. You could sum the relationship thing for me as a chronic case of serial hetero monogamy.

Yeah, I hope you're not doing what my ex did to me...he wanted out but didn't want to be the one to break up...so he turned himself into the biggest asshole possible in a pathetic attempt to get ME to dump HIM. All this served to do was lower my self-esteem. He has never admitted to this day that he wanted out of the relationship. He claimed that he would come back to me and he just needed space. We both knew he was just bs-ing and the worst thing was that he wouldn't just say it was over so I could get on with my life.
