I unhooked my negative battery cable today for 15 minutes to get my cel to go off. I hooked up the cable and now my taillights and brake lights wont go off. Any help?

does the light stay on constantly? or does it go off when you tap the brake pedal? My 2000 windstar had the same problem (brake light staying on) and would go off when I lifted the brake pedal up, if yours does the same thing try this. go under the dash where the brake pedal is and remove the black squarish box (Brake switch) and connector, then open the switch disassemble it but remember its orientation (this was very easy when I did it). You will see where the plastic shaft which has a spring under it rubs against the case of the unit, this is where the problem is (the shaft sometimes gouges the wall of the case and gets stuck keeping the brake lights on). Lightly sand the wall of the case smooth and place a light coat of Vaseline or dielectric grease on the wall (I used Vaseline in my case) and reassemble the unit. Put back on the vehicle and test it out by pressing the pedal a few times. This solved my problem with the brake lights staying on, but if its your marker lights staying on then it could be something else, Good Luck.

Thanks, this had nothing to do with my battery. It was my brake lights and my brake was engaged a little and had to lift up to disengage.

That switch is called "Brake On Off" switch....."BOO" on some FORD drawings.
I have a picture of it in the pictures that the link in my signature takes you to.
This part is easy to change.
