Intake Question

OK I am getting ready to sell one of my Saturns. It is a 96 SL1. I had a CAI on it, and I replaced the stock intake box, as this CAI is one of a kind and I am not willing to part with. Anyway, as I was putting the stock un it back on, I realized I didnt have part of it anymore. Its that "boxy" thing that attaches to the frame above the radiator, and goes into the side of the airbox, if that makes any sense. Now I am wondering, is it going to hurt/affect/damage anything, by not having that on the car? It seems to drive fine, just loud when I get on the gas. Thanx for any help you can give.

That boxy thing is just a resonator to quiet the intake air. That's the only function it has.
