Hi all,

My boyfriend and I just got a 2003 Chevy Impala (just the base, no LS or anything).
The dealer we went through did not have the Key Fob for the Remote Entry. I wondered if you could help this newbie with how to go about getting a Key Fob and programming. I apologize if this is not in the right forum.

Would it be better to use Ebay? How do you know which FOB is right? How should I avoid scammers? Can I mess up the cars programming if we try to program ourselves? Should I go to a Chevy or GM delarship to have them do it?

We are really excited about our car. We just went from a 92 Corsica to the Impala. What a Difference :grinyes:

Thanks for all of your help

I looked through the Keyless entry forum in the General section and did a search on 2003 Impala. I just would like someone to give me a step by step or to point me to a website to where I can find it (like a pdf.).

Also I looked on ebay for a FOB. I have a Base 2003 Impala. A lot of the FOB's are for LS or SS. I'm not sure what to buy. I worried about being scammed.

Thank you

keyless entry is an option on the base Impala, so your car may not be equipped with it. If you send me a private message with the last 8 digits of your VIN #, I can tell you if it is so equipped. There's no sense in buying a fob and trying to program it if the car doesn't have the option.

Thanks Richtazz for that note I did not know that information and hope skyhoneybear gets that before she orders....I have base model w/keyfob so I thought it was a standard....

Procedure is in your owners manual...
Hold Lock & Unlock for seven seconds until you hear a single horn chirp.... FOB is now programmed.
If you do not have the stock radio, you will not hear the horn chirp, but the procedure will still work.
I think the receiver for the keyless entry is under the rear window shelf. Open up the trunk, you may be able to see it there.
This procedure works for the stock FOBs, I don't know about others.
