I have been having some trouble with my power steering only when I try to parallel park, it is like standard steering.
There is also a whining sound whne the wheels are turned.
I had my power steering pump replaced in June due to severe whining noise, but know this problem just started about 3 weeks ago.
I have check PS fluid and all looks well.

I suggest you do the flush procedure which is outlined in this forum, I also had a whining sound with my P/S and flushed it out completely with ATF fluid. You can search this forum and find tons of info on this. Windstars are known to scorch the power steering fluid because the catalitic converter sits right underneath the rack and pinion. Mine stop whining and the steering got super smooth after the flush, now if only my transmission were good I would be a happy camper.:banghead:

Make sure to use Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF), NOT "power steering fluid".
Your 2002 calls for "mercon", and Mobil 1 ATF would be a excellent, easy to find, choice.
