Hello again everyone. It looks like my transmission problem just got worse. :banghead: The tranny in my 96 Windstar just started slipping very badly between 2nd and 3rd gears. It always had a slightly harsh 1-2 shift, but this other problem is new. It also drops out of gear if I stop quick and try to accelerate quickly afterwards. If I unplug the Transmission Range Sensor the problem goes away with the exception of a slight harsh 1-2 shift. I've tried this several times, and each time the tranny shifts between 2-3 flawlessly with the TRS disconnected. IT also didn't seem to come out of gear anymore. Replacing the TRS has made no difference. I'm assuming if the problem fixes with the TRS disconnected the problem is probably electric. What do you guys think?

Drove to and from work today. The slipping was very bad. Sometimes it would just come out of gear and the only way it would grab again is if I hit the gas pedal very hard. Then the RPMs would shoot up and it would suddenly grab. The grab wasn't as hard as I would have expected it to be.
On my way home, the O/D light started blinking. Once this happened the tranny seemed fine. There was no O/D but it shifted very well. Only a slight shudder if I got on it real hard, like it didn't know what gear it was supposed to be in.
I'd want to eventually have the trans codes checked but I'd like to avoid the stealership if possible. Unfortunately all the mechanics around where I live are thieves. I stopped by two different transmission shops today and both told me I needed a new transmission without even looking at the van. Do you guys have any recommendations as to what kind of places would be able to pull tranny codes from this van?

My Van Started Doing The Same Thing But Disconnecting The Trs Sensor Did Not Help. It Got To The Point Where The Vehicle Wont Move In Any Gear But Oddly Enough It Moves In Neutral.
