If your motor is the duratec 24v and has 300000km on it and you have already replaced the thermistat the only other culprite is a cracked head not the heater core. It is cheaper to install a new/used engine up to 1999 then it is to replace the heads. This will fix your problem. This is only good if your heater core has been flushed and did not fix the no heat

It took me a year and a lot of research to find this prob. The heads or engine only have to be replaced if new THERMISTAT and a flushing does not fix no heat prob if the thermistat is faulty, coolant can not even get to the core same thing if the heads are cracked coolant can't circulate.

I have the same issue (No/Low Heat), and in addition temperature gauge shoots up at times when the car has been idling for a while, but does not cross the upper limit of the norm range. The temp comes down if I race the engine. Has anyone had this issue, and if so how was it corrected?

I'm having a simular problem. my 02 sable pushes out heat while I'm going at a high speed. But no heat when I go under 45mph. I've check the lines, no air. Coolant is fine. Thermostat is fine. I cant figure out what is wrong. It cant be the control valve either b/c the a/c works great

If your fins in your pump are broken I would recomend a thermistat be changed aswell because it could posibly be damaged from the broken plastic out of your water pump.

your wate pump impeller is worn. it is not pulling coolant through the system with any efficiency.
