Righteous. Tim, if you wanted to make the trip up that would be awesome. Where are you coming from?

Yes, Porky's and University Ave. are both big car guy spots, but with any amount of people thinking their car is the shit there is a lot of racing that goes on there too, so yes, its pretty heavily partolled. We'll keep it at a creep though, and we shouldnt have any problems. Once I can get a camp ground for sure (in like 3 weeks) I can post the addresses of Porky's, E85 fill up spots, the campground, and whatever else people want to know so you can mapquest or whatever. I think any out of towners should maybe invest $4 in a map of the twin cities, hell even I will.

I'm looking forward to this guys, I just hope I have DSMlink and the 1000's for E85 before then, Premium is $4.11 per gallon up here compared to $2.96 per gallon E85. Sure the milage once on E85 will drop some, but I'm ok with that if I only have to pay $35 to fill up compared to $50, especially if I can lean burn on the highway.

Western NY. Should take the same time to get there as the time it would have taken to get to the South meet.

Oh shit, your only about 30 miles away from me. lol... That being the case, if your headed to the meet for sure, we could caravan together up that way if you want to. 2 DSM's on the highway are more fun than just one. lol

Bri you still stopping up here along the way? 3 DSMs are even more fun together then.

Of course. I'm already off of work that Friday, Saturday and Sunday as my normal days off. I'm going to also request off Thursday, Monday and Tuesday and that gives me 7 days off so I'm not rushed to get there and I'm not rushed to get home either. What day is everyone heading up there? I will probably leave here Thursday afternoon to avoid traffic or Friday mid-morning... Haven't decided yet. I figure Chicago will have a lot less traffic if I'm coming into it at night.

I'm in Northeast OH. Niles/Warren area actually. Route 5 is a straight shot from my place right up to Jamestown. lol

Ah ok... Well then I guess that means I'll be leaving here Thursday sometime so I can be there by Thursday night sometime to get a little bit of sleep before we head up the rest of the way from there. Will that work? It's about a 7 hour drive to Chicago from here and I don't wanna have to go much further than that in just one straight stretch. lol

Dude that's fine. I'll be home from work at like 6:30 or so Thursday night, so whenever you get here you get here. We can chill out here, maybe BBQ for a lil or do something Chicago. Then Friday morn or whenever we can head out.

Tim you're more than welcome to crash at my place too. Only got 1 bed and a futon, but my pizza carpet is VERY comfortable. I got a lot of quilts to sleep on too.

And you guys know with 3 of us, drafting will work great on the expressway, especially with switching off. Save us all some gas.

So is this date set in stone now or no? I need to put a vacation day for that Friday... and it's about a month away so I need to know.

Thor06
06-10-2008, 10:30 PM
Yeah, lets do it.

I am going to take some time one of these days that I'm not at work for 15 hours a day to PM everyone on "the list" to see if they are still coming, how about on the 20th of June we'll use the number of people we have to reserve a campground, get food cost estimates, and so on. Sound good to everyone?

david-b

I just requested off my days for that weekend so I say we stick to it...

Thor06
06-11-2008, 06:01 PM
Ahh, what the fuck?! DB only does weekend dyno days for groups of 15 or more and Rock Falls Raceway changed their damn schedule! So what do you guys think? We can just do nothing special, but that sort of defeats the purpose IMO. We can also just try to find a few extra people to come too, I am sure I will have atleast one friend that would come. Let me know what you all think guys!

tfoti
06-11-2008, 07:56 PM
I'll still meet up, wasn't really into a dyno pull anyway. What do you guys think of this:

My 50 trim has been on backorder for forever and i think it will be here in time for the meet but not sure if i'll have time to install it. That's where you guys come in! Have some beers, install a turbo. You know you want to...

Thor06
06-11-2008, 09:26 PM
Hell yeah, I'd do it. I'm sure I will have or could have a thing or two ready to go in by then, shiiiiit maybe I should pull something out of my ass and snatch up some nitrous for the meet ;).

No rush, I still have no insurance on my car...still in the garage...fu*k work. How has everyone been?

Blackcrow64
06-12-2008, 07:56 AM
Thats fine with me. We don't have to do anything special. I'm sure we can find enough trouble to get into. lol...

gstclips, you gonna try to make it to the meet? It's gonna be a good time with lots of hot DSM's! lol

Thor06
06-12-2008, 10:14 PM
Well, I'm sure we can come up with 15 people if we wanted to. gstclips makes 9 if Tim and everyone else comes, then I have a buddy in an 3g swapped MR2 that would be up for coming for 10. The MR2 guy has a friend that has a 1g RX-7 that is having an LS1 put in it, and we could probably get him to come too. Between the rest of you all, I am sure we can come up with another 4 or 5 people. Hanging out with you all will be a good enough reason to make it down there, but I'd really like to dyno or track while I'm down there since I'll be spending all the money to get down there anyway. I'd be ok with doing nothing, but I for one would rather do something.

Blackcrow64

HAHA... and there it was.

Thor06
06-26-2008, 12:58 AM
Ok guys, so here's about what I've got as of right now.

Me - Coming for sure, either Friday night or Saturday mid day.
Brian - Coming for sure, will be there Friday.
Dave - Coming for sure, will be there Friday.
Tim - Maybe coming, would be there Friday.
Longemoco (4g63gst20) - Maybe coming.
Scott - Maybe coming.
Garrett - ???
Rock134 - ???

Also, my MR2 buddy Eric will be coming too, same time as me.

I think I've found a good campground to do this at, it seems like we'll be out of the cities a bit but still only about 35 minutes from MOA, 25 from down town Minneapolis, and like 15 from down town St. Paul. We can do it one of two ways, group site or "normal" site. Here's the deal.

Small Site:
-1 car per site, other cars park in the lot
-No alcohol permitted
-1 Tent per site
-Smaller, cheaper

Big Site:
-No cars in the campground, all parked in the lot
-Moderate beer and wine consumption permitted, hard alcohol and heavy drinking not allowed
-Pretty sure there's no limit on tents
-Bigger, more expensive

I think we pretty much have to go to the group site since alcohol is allowed and its a little more secluded than the others. Split as many ways as it will be it wont really matter anyhow. Here's the price breakdown.

Parking Permit, Day $5
Reservation Fee $5
Normal Site, Electric $18
Normal Site, No Electric $15
Group Site, With Shelter $55
Group Site, Without Shelter $45

So yeah, it will be a little more expensive particularly for those of us staying Friday night, but its still like 1/5 of the cost of a hotel room. I dont think we need a shelter, I'll just avoid it if at all possible unless someone really wants one for some reason. We pretty much have to get a group site so its atleast a little bit legit that we have alcohol with us, but also so we dont have to be so quiet.

So yeah, for the first night it'll be $20 per person with parking if three people come out or $16.25 if four of us do. If we get 6 people for the second night it will be $12.50 per person with parking or if we do get all 9 then it'll only be $10 with parking.

One last thing, what are we going to do about food? Just have one person buy it and everyone else pay them back, or everyone buy their own? I am going to call the place tomorrow and see about a reservation. Sound good to you all?

I'm glad your putting all the details into this for us. lol... Everything sounds good to me. As for the food, I think we should all just bring some snacks or whatever we want for ourselves for during travel time and then we'll just decide what to get when we get there. We can make a list and send a few people to get it and then split up the cost... I also say we go for the alcohol site so we can have a little fun with it all. No reason not to. For as far as some of us are coming, its not gonna kill us to spend a little more money for the better place...

We need to figure out what we all need to bring with us. Obviously tents or whatever. But do we need to bring anything else really?...

david-b
06-26-2008, 09:10 AM
Is there a wholesale place up there? Like a GFS? Where you can get boxes of burgers and whatnot for wholesale price? Might want to look into something like that. Obviously I'm not going to be hauling meat for 6 hrs in the car. I don't care either way on how we do the food thing.

Same for the camping too. I have a tent and everything so I don't need "shelter". Doesn't matter there. Just make sure we book it before the meet, like soon. Electric, really doesn't matter again. Are there outhouses or actual bathrooms?

Blackcrow64
06-26-2008, 06:24 PM
I don't think I have a tent now that I think about it... My old one got destroyed when my brother used it last... Should I go buy a new one or is anybodies big enough that I can bunk with them? lol

Thor06
06-26-2008, 07:05 PM
I have atleast one tent I can bring, plus I have a screen tent (maybe a good spot to put the food away from the bugs and critters and shit?) and a wall-less shelter tent deal too, so we dont really need the permanent shelter. Other people that have tents should post up too, so we can be sure to get everyone covered.

There are wholesale places to buy food here too, like Sam's Club and Costco. My mom has a membership at both, so I think I can jack her card for the weekend.

I am going to come down for Friday night as well. I will either take a half day or head out right after work gets done at 3:30. I might stop at a friends house, so I will be there between like 4 and 10 ;). I'll let you all know before hand when I'll be there. I was thinking when you three (Tim, Dave, and Brian) and I meet up Friday night we should head to Costco/Sams Club and get stocked up for the weekend, then we can collect from others as they come.

Everyone should post up about random camping shit they have and can bring too. I have:

-Camping stove
-Tent
-2 kinds of screen tent
-4 camping chairs

So yeah, we could probably use a few more camping chairs, a lantern, SEVERAL COOLERS!, maybe another stove, propane, tents, firewood, bug lanterns, you all know the drill.

Tim, still thinking about putting the 50 trim in down there? I was thinking I might swing through MAP on my way down there on Friday and pick up a spool for the center diff if I cant get it before then, maybe Friday night or Saturday day we can have a "working on the cars" party.

david-b
06-26-2008, 07:32 PM
I don't have much but my girl has a big cooler we apparently bringing. I'm borrowing my buddies tent so IDK how big it is. Plus I'd rather not share when it's just me and her along. :boink:

Blackcrow64

I've got a few chairs I can bring... I'll have to check at my parents place tomorrow to see if my brother did destroy the tent or if its still good... Maybe I'll just buy a cheap tiny one. lol

tfoti
06-26-2008, 09:32 PM
I got no tent. I'll sleep in my car if i have to. BTW, it still looks good for me. I took the thursday and friday off of that week.

My 50 trim is still on "backorder". MAP says PTE told them they were waiting on the housings to be made. That was a month ago. PTE lied when they said it would be less than 2 weeks from my order date, they also said to MAP at the time that there was no wait time other than standard build time.

I emailed MAP again to see if they can tell me WTF is up. I'm quite irritated about it. But there is still plenty of time. And I will bring it if i get it in time. I'm also finishing up my GM MAF conversion tomorrow at work.

My tent fits 3 comfortably and 4 if we have to, so with Eric (MR2 guy) coming then one of you all can stay in my tent. I also might have another one which is a bit bigger, but I dont know if we still have it. Honestly I dont know if I will even make it into a tent, anyone ever slept out under the stars?

Only because of alcohol or pu$$y... Both of which I have had under the stars before... :naughty:

Bri I'm going to call you this weekend to figure out for when you come up here. You want a tour of the city? Bar drinking? I'm sure we'll have some promos going on which we could hit up and result in free drinking.

Same for you Tim. If you guys come out here early enough and want to see the city or whatever just let me know. I'll leave work early and schedule some things.

Blackcrow64
06-27-2008, 02:44 PM
Well... If I am still at my job by then, I'll be getting home at 7:30am on Thursday... I could be ready to go by 9ish... Then it's what, a 6 hour drive Dave? I forget what we figured. Tim, how long will it take you to get to Niles, OH? We can hop right on the highway here and it'll take us clear to Chicago near Dave's place... So we could do something that night. I don't want to do too much heavy drinking in my travels. I do feel like getting home without alcohol poisoning or death. lol

david-b

Ya it's 6 from you to me, then 6 from me to MN or something like that. I'm guessing it should take during the day about 5 hours. Going straight west from Brians will take you right to my place. There's really no option, you drive right by my place

So you're looking at being here ~5ish or so then? Good luck in the rush hour once you get in the city. But that'd be cool. I get home at 5:30-6:30 everyday but I'll cut out early and head on home.

We got the Sears Tower, Navy Pier, the lakefront, cruise Lake Shore Drive (crazy fun but more and more cops have shown up there)... lots of stuff to do.

Then I'm figuring leave my place early, but how early we looking? We can leave before rush hour at like 6, and get there by noon-1. Or leave after rush hour at like 8-9 and get there a lil later then. Ideas?

Blackcrow64
06-27-2008, 03:01 PM
I say we leave early and miss rush hour... Driving into Chicago during rush hour will be bad enough... Maybe we should drag feet a little bit to miss it? What time does it usually thin out in the evenings?

david-b
06-27-2008, 03:13 PM
Depends... doesn't have a "set" end time. Evening rush hour starts at about 3:30 and ends around maybe 7 at latest. There's always some spotty sections though that can last a while... people are idiots and don't know how to drive.

Blackcrow64
06-27-2008, 04:23 PM
Bah... So a nice bit of information has been given to me... I just got a call from my job interview this morning. I totally got a new job! Still at the hospital, but working in the computer department... Major excitement right now. My income has nearly doubled because of this. I'm super excited!... I start July 21st... I hope my vacation days for this meet carry through still. I'll talk to my new boss if it becomes an issue and tell him I "already have a hotel booked" for my "vacation" lol... One way or another, I'll find a way to still be there. Just though I would give you guys the good news and the heads up on it... Damn I'm excited... Now I can keep the Talon for sure and get the Cobalt paid off ASAP... Then I can buy another toy... Hehe...

Mapquest tells me 2 hours 30 minutes to Niles, OH coming from zip code 14747. If i left by 6:30 i would make it to your place by 9. I'd rather not drive through rush hour if we don't have to.

BTW, the GM MAF conversion went over without a hitch!

Congrats on the new job!!

Thanks... Yeah I want to avoid rush hour traffic for sure. When I was in Cali my plane landed and I got my rental car in rush house traffic. It was bumper to bumper not moving for hours. I wanted to die so bad. lol... So I definitely don't want to see that kind of traffic in Chicago, especially with the DSM...

So what do you think we should do? Leave way early like 7:30am or wait it out till like noonish and then leave? Either way I think my entire trip will have to be shortened to Sunday instead of Wednesday like I originally planned... I won't know for sure yet until I actually talk to my new boss again.

tfoti
06-28-2008, 01:12 PM
I'd say 7:30 or early afternoon like 1 or 2. It would be cool to go out when we get there, but it doesn't matter to me.

Thor06
06-28-2008, 02:52 PM
So what time Friday will you guys be in Minneapolis? I should figure out if I want to take a half day and let work know, I might visit some friends that day too so I should plan.

If we do end up working on cars someone should bring some tools too. I can throw my little set in, but most mechanics would probably want a little more.

I kinda want to address the firewood issue too. If we just buy the $4 bundles of pine splinters they call firewood, we're going to burn through like 20 bundles over the weekend. Though I know its not technically legal, we're going to need to sneak some decent firewood in. Oak burns hot and long, if anyone close has some or can get some, that would be ideal. I mean we should get a few bundles of their shit as it does a good job of starting the fire, but we need a little more sustainance. Anyone happen to have any?

david-b
06-28-2008, 03:46 PM
Nope, no firewood. Dave = city boy

We'll figure out when we're going to be leaving sometime this week. Still haven't called Brian or anything... much easier than constant posts. lol

Ok... So bad news... I don't know if I'll still be able to come because of starting my new job that week. I won't know until that Monday whether or not this new boss will let me have my time off for the meet still. I wish my old boss would have held onto me until after the meet. :(

So right now it is up in the air for me... Cross your fingers that I still get the time off with this new job...

david-b

Yeah I know. But I also don't want to blow this job either dude. I can't exactly start for a few days and then demand off like 4 days straight when I haven't even started yet. I mean, I'm going to try to get off for it still, but I'm not going to push the issue if he says no either... I didn't exactly plan on switching jobs amidst the meet... You know how bad I need this experience on my resume man. If not, I'll be right back to mopping floors making shit money and that is definitely not what I want to have happen... :(

I just reserved camp site 1 at the park so we're good for those 2 nights.

Comes out to $90 for both nights. She said all the rest of the prices really quick so I'm not sure what she said but I think I'm getting a packet or something with prices on parking permits and all. It think that was $5 a day or something.

It's a 50-100 yard hike to the camp from the parking lot so we have to walk a little. I call the beer!!!!!

So now I'm excited.
