Clutch Noise

Hey Everyone,
My wire has an '05 Cruiser 5-Speed w/32,000 miles. She was complaining of the clutch feeling stiff so I checked it. What I noticed was that it was binding with slow travel but normal with a quick push. It engaged and disengaged normal. I took everything and lubed it up with no difference. When underneath the car I noticed a noise that sounded like straining metal in the bellhousing. I'm assuming it's the fingers on the pressure plate. I don't know if it's a normal sound or not. Does anyone elses make this noise? (I am having a hard time with normal as I was suprised to be told at two dealers 450 miles apart that the diffrential is engeneered to have about 45 degrees of freeplay and sound like it is full of gravel.) I have always driven Fords and they are obviously engineered different so I don't know.
I'm trying to figure out if it's part of the clutch or if i should be checking the hydrolics.
