Help me make these, um... "headlights."

Which I guess are actually just aftermarket driving lights. Ugh. :rolleyes:

Any ideas? Not even sure where to start... The housing is easy enough, just some round styrene stock. But what about the lense?

Hi tigeraid, if you have some FD RX-7 models laying around, check out the oval foglights that you get from that. it should be perfect for your project :)

How about smoothing out the ends of some clear styrene rods from your clear parts trees? Cut a section out, put it into a drill, spin it while putting a file on its side to file out the right diameter. round out the end with sandpaper while still spinning. Buff to shine.

I'm not sure how tall the drops go, but you could try transculent blue mixed in with 'krystal klear' and drop it on wax paper. I've seen it done for gauge covers, not sure wether it would work for light covers.

This is the method I use but instead of a drill I just use my dremel. It's an excellent way to make signal and taillights too.

Hey John, I saw on here some time ago where someone took some aluminum tubing and stuffed some red plastic into it, then heated it up which soften/melted the clear red and made it stick to the tubing. then they hung it so it formed a "drip" or convex surface out of the end of the tubing. I am thinking that if you were to use some tubing and kind of smash it down to your "cat eye" shape of the fog lams, then use this method, you might have a fighting chance.

What about 1/43 scale headlights? They come in all sizes and have a similar gleam, but I honestly don't know where to get them, except from a 1:43 diecast model or kit. You could Google "1:43 parts," or buy a cheap 1:43 model on eBay.
