Just recieved my HPTuners and Turbo Update!!!

Hey guys!
For those of you that have heard about my turbo project or for those of you who doesn't care, i just recieved my HPTuners and my car is going to be turbocharged this upcoming weekend, which is in 4 days!!!
Im going to taken things out and put the turbo in myself with my friend's help of cutting intercooler pipings and welding exhaust...
So far i've got:
-Turbonetics T3 Turbo (Internally Gated)
-HKS SSQV BOV
-JDM Intercooler
-Ebay Ecotec Turbo Exhaust Manifold
-Innovate LC-1 Wideband with XD-16 Gauge
-Bosch Green Tops 440cc Fuel Injectors
-Bosch EV1 Fuel Injector Connectors
-NGK 1-Step Colder Spark Plugs
-2.5" Black Powder Coated Aluminum Piping with Silicon Couplers and Stainless Steel Clamps
-3" Turbo-Back Exhaust, no cat, no mufflers, straight out to a dual exhaust with a dual 3" tip on each side
-Stainless Steel Braided feed and return oil lines
-Ecotec m12 NPT Oil Fittings
-GlowShift Boost Gauge and Oil Pressure Gauge
-HPTuners!!!
Thats about all i got and i believe that should be all i need for this turbo setup to run perfectly... i just cant wait till saturday and i should have pictures and videos up when im done installing everything...
Saturday all day will be taking out everything needed to be taken out, then install everything in along with cutting Intercooler pipings and clamp them in... Complete the Oil feed and return and hook up the oil pressure gauge and the boost gauge... Put the injectors in, put the spark plugs in, connect the injectors with the bosch connectors and weld the wires... Put the manifold in, the turbo, the intercooler, and the hks bov.
Sunday i will make the downpipe and weld everything from downpipe all the way to the back 3" and into a "Y" and make a dual exhaust with a dual tip on each end... tips are going to be 3" each to make sure no restriction...
Monday will be tuning day, me and my friend will work on starting up the car, tuning, stoich a/f ratio, should be fun... gonna take forever tho omg... if can finish tuning in one day, i will take it to test drive, and more tuning, and test drive... and if everything is good, im gonna be outta the shop and i have a completed turbo project! :grinyes: Cant wait!!!!!!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

btw you're not aiming for stoich are you?
you can get so much more power out of your car with boost if you aim for 11.8 :)

yeah i think that 14.7:1 might be a tad lean.....aim for 12's and you'll be fine.

Yeah i thought i pretty much got everything i needed...
Im probably gonna get a manual boost controller and turn the boost up to 10 PSI from 7 which is what the wastegate is set for... And go a little rich like 12's and i should be fine... omg i cant wait...
Do you think i'll be able to get about 250 horses with 7 psi and 280 with 10 psi?

if you dont like ur head gasket, then sure. why not..... it will only be a matter of time before something goes BOOM on a stock motor @ 10psi

I got a Cometic Head gasket for turbo applications...

it's easy to fake a 2 bar, I did it :)

My dude did it for me, I just watched and so oh look at the pretty graphs, lol.
I know he changed PE tables, faked the 2 bar, changed fuel injetor constant.. raised speed limiter/rev limited... changed idle speed... and....some other stuff I have no clue how to, don't ask lol.

If you have no idea on how to tune your car then i would hire someone else to do it rather than trying it yourself. Unless you like blowing shit up then go for it.
It is not entirely hard but there is alot of knowledge behind it. also each car is kid of different depending oh how "you" drive and many other factors

Well if you're attempting to tune your own car and dont know what to do...i think i might be hungry for a while. Also, i didnt say it cant be done, but you're going to have to be conservative with this setup or you'll end up as another person without and engine forced to sell the turbo setup in order to get it running again. Good luck and i hope you get things running well...

Yeah my idle is at like 17-18 and when i accelerate in vacume, its 12 but once boost comes up, my AFR go to like 15... :banghead:

raise your injector constant.... it should make it like... 15 idle, 11 accel, 13 boost.... you should get close to that if you just raise it a bit.. that would probably work, then you can just smooth out the pe tables. Just 11 is a too rich, but think about how long you're actually in that low accelerating stage with no boost...

its best for you to stay in the 12.2-12.6 range when under hard load...timing aside, thats about the safest AF you can run while still making good power. Dont mess around with timing until you know what you;re doing or find someone who does...

i took out the stock 02 sensors in my exhaust manifold. should i put them back in? people on the org saids to put at least the one that was in the manifold back in... but my mechanics saids i dont really have to...

Yeah i only have my wideband too, but everyone been telling me to put at least the first one that was in the manifold back in so the computer wont be in LIMP mode and dont waste as much gas...
So i will try and put it back in but my downpipe is a pretty tight fit so i might not be able to do it...

Yea, one is the innovate wideband and the other is the stock 02 sensor, the one that i have to put back in...

hey Felix, explain to me how you're tuning this car...you said it doesnt go past 14:1 AF but when is that? If you're running that lean in boost or under load, you're going to have problems. If thats just during part throttle, then no big deal...
As you probably know, i dont care that youre boosted, i hope it doesnt blow up and i really want to help you keep it in 1 piece...

Lefix, dont listen 2 anyone, keep pushin them numbers, im pushin 20 and people say il blow my shit up 2...its been 3 months and i havnt had a problem. I also have a MapClamp and the SAFC-II in tho and i dont know how to tune...i just have Extreme Motorsport do it for me with no problems.

You car will run different with the o2 sensor in. You can run w/o bank 2 o2 sensor, you would just have to set up the computer to do so. But running without bank 1 o2 will make your car run a bit different.

heres something you guys need to understand about the 02 sensor with a piggy back...once Felix gets the car tuned to the point he likes it, the 02 sensor is going to read off the new map created on the HP Tuners software. If the 02 notices that it needs an adjustment (generally due to a temp change or something that mildly changes the AF ratio) it will change it. The 02 only works on part throttle. Once part throttle is dialed in, the 02 can only regulate it slightly...full throttle is completely independent of the 02...therefore it should run the same with or without the 02. Not to mention, you can disengage it with your HP Tuners software

Hey Derk, how did you disable to 02 sensor and the check engine light? I took out BOTH stock 02 sensors, one in the stock manifold and one in the cat, Do i need to put them back?
I was gonna buy a bung and have my shop put my first stock 02 back in tomorrow, do i really need to do it? If it does ANY good to put it back in, i will put it back in...

put your front o2 sensor back in.
