Ferrari 60th Anniversary Year: Starter

As you probably know, this is Ferrari's 60th year and over at the Car Modelling section, there is a massive group build going on.

So how's about it?
We have maybe 3 months left before the year is out so there is still time to get a drawing or two in before the year is out. Anyone up for a massive "draw every Ferrari" group draw session?

Personally, I'd like to see a wide range of cars being depicted and not maybe 17 Enzos, 27 FXXs, 11 250 GTOs.....
So if anyone is up for this signal your intentions here and I'll think about how to sort this one out. I might even have something Ferrari related to give away at the end of it.

I might be interested. I am quite busy with the commissions I have going on, though. If this were to take off, I would absolutely have to call dibs on either the 360 Modena or the 599 GTB Fiorano. Those look great to me.

that's exactly what I was aiming for; pick your favourite.
Hopefully, we have some old school romantics here as well so we get a good mix of interests.
Pesonally, I'm tempted by the 250SWB or Dino 246GT.
A classic racer would be nice so maybe a 156 or Tipo 500.

If I do this then I would like to keep the 288 gto for me, please.

Whoops. I have started one too! :) I have not heard back from one of my customers so I decided to have some fun and chose the 599. Dang it. Oh well. I'm not stopping. I need to build my portfolio anyway. :grinyes:

maybe I should've made it more clear,
if you're interested; make a note of the car or cars you are going to draw/paint/whatever.
Try not to pick one that has already been chosen by someone else unless perhaps, if you are drawing more than one car (hint hint to the guys above...)

I mean, 60 long years and more than 200 road and race cars.
Lots to choose from.

I personally can have fun drawing any of them so I'll let you guys pick your cars first. Incidentally, if possible make your decisions before the end of the month (convenient 3 month deadline marker) and I'll get to sorting out a proper thread for it. It would also be nice to try and make an effort to show your progress. Part of what makes this sort of thing interesting is that everyone works in a different way. It'd be nice to see other people's methods.

Probably not from my end for a while. I heard from my customer this morning (he is in Iraq) and I am going to be proceeding with his commission. I have the sketch done on the 599 and am ready to marker it up. I would like to try and get it done rather than start another (I actually like how the drawing is coming along), because I don't know if I ever will unless I have another down moment, and even then I will probably tackling a Mopar of some sort. If I didn't like it, I would say yes :wink:. Sorry for being stubborn.

If I get the time, I'll try a CAR-toon version of the 1940 Auto Avio Costruzioni (AAC) 815.

599 is already taken.
for the purposes of, variations of a model is still that model and having 3 of 7 "entries" being 599s is a bit much I think. There's plenty of cool ferrari to choose from.

not all cars have been made into a die-cast and not all die-casts are that good.
It also stops people choosing the "cool" cars because they want to win the prize version. Also, because I'm trying to get as many different cars in, people won't get extra upset because someone already chose their favourite.
As it is, the prizes will follow the Classic, Moder and Race catagories with the concepts and specials falling under Modern (depending on how much these things cost...).

Mostly it will depend on what is available in 1/43 of decent quality.

Ideally and if they exist:
Classic: 250 GTO
Modern: F430?/599?/Enzo?/FXX?
Race: ??? 575 GTC?, does the 250 GTO count as a race car? 156 Sharknose would be cool.

i make posters at my work i could get the winners submition made into a print for them and send it to them?

its Hp Premium High Gloss paper, I think its like 65lb thick or around there, i have about 12 24 x 36 posters of my drawings hanging in my house lol, iam the manager of the dept that does it. ANyways they look great, I also got vinvl stock for making vinyl banners either or, like the Ferrari i just did, i printed it 24 x 36 today actually, and as i said the original is only 5 x 12 inches but i scaned it at 600 dpi looks awesome even blown up

of coarse i wouldnt want to be part of the competition if i do it, since i already got a poster made of it :D

I think the older 512S looks better and I've started the line drawings on it already.

I am very interested in taking part, knowing full well that with so much talent in here, I have no chance of winning lol.

I knew it was Ferrari's 60th year, and iI have been aware of this competition since the off, but i didnt realise the objective was to try and get the whole range drawn/painted whatever, if possible.

Ill give it a go, If i find enough time to sit and draw anything decent, but I havent drawn in about a year now, so it could be interesting.
