Hi all!
I have a 1992 SL2 with a 5spd manual with 75,000 miles on it. This little car has always fired right up and ran smoothly until just recently.
As I was driving on the freeway this morning going to work, (70mph), I noticed the speedo was reading slightly incorrectly. At 3,000rpm, this car goes exactly 70mph. Well, I was turning 3k on the tach when I noticed the speedo began wavering between 60 and 65mph. Then I could feel a little bit of roughness to the engine.
I continued down the road since all gauges read normally (temp, oil) when all of a sudden the speedo drops to zero for a moment, but then jumps right back up again to 65! When the speedo fell to zero, there was a definite loss of power, but not enough to stall the car. It was more of a brief "hiccup" in the power and couldn't even qualify and jerking feel, but more like I had momentarily eased off the gas a little but got right back into it.
When I got off at my exit, I put it in neutral and coasted to the service road like I usually do and noticed that the rpm's remained high. (2,500rpm) I put it in a higher gear for the speed (4th gear at 25mph) and this seemed to force the rpm's back down to normal. When I took off from the light, it felt like it was lacking it's usual spunk and power, but was accelerarting "okay" nonetheless.
I pulled into my work's parking lot and it was idling perfectly. :shakehead
Anyone have any suggestions what could be going on here? Where should I look first?? Thanks in advance!! :)

Speed sensor.

Thanks for the suggestion, Cat Fuzz! :smokin: Although, will this sensor create those other symptoms? i.e. slight roughness, lack of power? Thanks again!
