name a DSM sports car then? I have nothing agaist DSM but you can't call them sports cars and then turn around and call honda an econobox. Do you see my point? Both high rev tuners with relatively smaller motor's. Calling one a sports car over the other just isint right.

A DSM sports car......Eclipse/Talon/Laser.
A DSM "econobox":Galant VR-4 (though technically not a DSM, they share characteristics)
I don't see your point. A sedan is not a sports car. 100bhp is not a sportscar. 8000 dollars in mods to run 13s is not indicative of a sportscar. 210bhp out of the box, turbocharged, 2 door= sportscar.

I have met a FEW CRXs that hold a candle to my car. Power to weight on those things is VERY impressive with a turbo kit and nitrous.
Edit: anyway I was just giving you a hard time about the big pic...no need to get your panties all bunched up. :bigthumb:

all 4 cylinders
please keep in mind that honda's don't come stock with forced induction systems, and some honda's have over 100hp per liter.
Let me add If it costs you 8000 dollars to run 13's in a honda, your getting ripped off.

The number of cylinders has nothing to do with a vehicles classification. I think you missed my point, and I can live with that. I have some folks up that way that would love to play :), but I hav only been up there once (War College..Carlisle??).

BTW- out of curiousity what does you car run?

You had no point. You are comparing apples to oranges, and failed to produce any examples of a Honda sports car. I live in friggin NC, I really doubt I will be making the 7 hour drive for a race, but thanks for the offer. Perhaps you should get out of the Honda "defensive stance", and admit what they are; economy cars. As for my times, no runs have been taken down the track with the 20g setup, and for now will have to wait until I get my IC hoses to stay on for more than 20psi. :p I hope to be in the mid 11s with a good tune and 110 octane.

You failed to post an example of a DSM sports car, BTW how do the NSX and the S2000 not count????? There both honda's. As for examples of honda sports cars - Type R integra, GSR integra, SIR civic, Si civic, SIR accord, and H22a a1 and a2 prelude just to name a few. As for your car, thats very impressive. (20 grand including the car??????) Otherwise you got ripped off.

You think that the name of that show was just made up? In the North American marketplace, engines have been built for torque, rather than horsepower (think pony car muscle car). As a rule, larger bore equals more horsepower, while a longer stroke equals more torque. A long stroke allows the engine to produce power for a longer period of time, and subsequently more torque. There is a drawback to a long stroke however. Because the piston must travel a longer distance, there is a physical limit to how many RPM the engine can achieve (not a high rev motor). On the opposite end of the spectrum, an engine with a large bore and short stroke will produce less overall torque, but has the ability to reach much higher revolutions per minute, and subsequently more horsepower. Honda and DSM are labeled as high rev tuners due to this characteristic. I don't know how else to simplify it?

This has nothing to do with the designation "sportscar". Play again.
The Prelude, regardless of engne, is a Prelude, and I agreed to that one. Strike two.

I called the car a Del Slow, and you; Timmy. Neither are insults, just creative nicknames. I also concceded that CRXs have great power to weight ratios whn modded. Strike three.
You sir, are out, and I am done wasting time arguing a point this far off topic.

No it has to do with the meaning of high rev tuner, which you seem to think is only a show on speed vision, (where do you think they got the name?). I don't watch the show often but I'm gonna guess they don't work on many F-bodies.
You have no problems counting the GSR (b18c1), and the Type R (b18c5). But you do have a problem counting the two different prelude models?

Well my name is CJ not "Timmy", and my car is anything but slow. I hope to show you that in the future, as for now ask around most ppl know me and I'm pretty easy to get along with. This thread has strayed far from its topic my apolagies for that, I just don't enjoy honda bashing as many of you know.

I never even IMPLIED that I didn't know what that meant, I was stating my reason for laughing at the phrase.
The GSR is NOT a sports car, it is a high trim package economy car. I owned one for my first car. I agreed that the Type R is a sports car.
Do you wear an upside down visor like alot of the honda guys? It might be on to tight. You are arguing away from the point, and I can't blame you, as you have no leg to stand on at this point. This time I really am done, so respond away.

Do you constantly have transmission fluid on your hands, like a lot of DSM guys?
How many Honda guys do you know? I have been a car enthusiast for many, many years now, and that includes all the Toyotas/Nissans/Hondas/Chevys/Pontiacs I have ever owned. Come to think about it, I really felt like wearing a visor when I got in my Hondas:rolleyes:.

I don't see anywhere in that definition where it says either "not a Honda" or "RWD/AWD only".
As a matter of fact, by the the definitions, hybridsol's Del Sol, or Del Slow as you want to call it, is more of a sports car, because it "seats two persons".

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
My point is valid, your the one talking in circles, furthermore you have proven nothing. You also failed to post a list of DSM sports cars. But then again I'm not denying the exsistance of DSM sport compacts just that they are comparable to honda's sport compacts.

This time I really am done, so respond away.
which was?????
Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

DSM = Doesnt Start Much :thefinger
I aint gonna say anything else cause i know most cars in here are faster then mine ... but I really get tired of all the bashing from the DSM guys like they are so much superior to us when really the ones that arent awd or turboed have dodge neon engines for crying out loud. :loser:

hmm... may I point out another car that happens to be Honda, and 4-cylinder, and IS considered a Sports Car, by definition (see previous post about that one)
The S-2000 makes 240hp from a 4-cyl, with I believe 16 valves. If I remember correctly (please do correct me if I'm wrong) I read somewhere that this was the maximum allowable HP per cyl/valve in Japan 60hp per cylinder with 4 valves per cylinder.
But the fact is, Engine size makes not a damn bit of difference. Its what the car is built for, what purpose it will serve. I own a 91 Turbo Laser, and I don't consider it a Sports Car.

This debate/argument/whatever is pretty pointless. The definition of sports car is practally just an opinion now. Some may argue that a "sports car" is only rwd... but what does it really matter? It's like arguing whether "real" muscle cars have only manual transmissions or how many generations of Chevy Nova's there are.... just like arguing whether imports or domestics are better. Totally pointless. Folks like hybrid may even be considered hot rodders! shit.. what the hell is a hot rod now a days?
In my opinion, the definition of a sports car comes more from the owner's heart.
For the folks who are unfimiliar with Hybrid: You guys would be at least somewhat amazed at his ability with cars and what he can and has done. I doubt that many of the folks here at AF really do almost all their own motor work and all that jazz.....
Wait a minute here... who considers a orignial Mini Cooper a sports car? Anyone?? uh oh..

Yea.. I know there are a number of folks on AF that do thier own work.. Not many are as skilled as you... Take me for example, I would be soooo fucked if I had to install new intake manifolds(upper and lower) along with a new cam for my car by myself... I am definitely trying to learn everything I can though.
So I feel that it is safe to assume that most folks here dont do all their own work. Good day.
Edit: Oh yea.. I wasn't talking about simple bolt ons like i/h/e andsprings and struts and stuff... I was referring to more in depth stuff.

Aww, how cute, another friend. I'm still waiting on the reasoning behind them being sports cars. They are underpowered cars that are built for gas mileage, and reliability. I have owned a 92EX that stayed virgin, and a 94 GSR, that was lightly modded, and they are not sports cars. They are slow, have crazy body roll, and lets not forget about the 4 doors on most Civics. Hell, I conceeded that the GVR-4 was an econobox based on tis door count alone, even though it retains the 4g63t engine, and AWD. As for "dumbasses leik me", get an education, troll. I never once said, "All hondas are slow". I praised the CRX when modded. What do you ricers want from me. You are just pissed off because of and internet discussion your boy can't handle. First off your just mad cause you cant get any friends to come in a forum an openly admit that they woudl want to run around with a fag like you. Second explain to me how a crx and a hatchback vary? can you do that cause as most know the only thing differaent about the two is the body style as for tranny, engine and suspension many of the same parts are used on the two cars. Therefore you must classify the civic hatchback as a sports car if your gonna call a crx one. Then if your gonna have to do that, you should aslo call the del sol also a sports car seeing that it also is built very similar being a civic and all once again the only real vary in the three cars being their body styles. Where are you getting that sports cars have to be awd too? I mean come on your not gonna classify the porshe boxster a sports car? I was j ust driving one last week and it sure as hell wants awd rather rwd. ? Then on top of everything else you have the balls to classify the type r a sports car and not the gsr? hows that? Mr. DSM can you name the differances in the two besides the wing on the back, and the decal on the side. If you knew much you would know that the motors are very similar yet comptuers very differant. The gsr is just as much a sports car as a type r. and if you had any brains at all you would of kept the gsr so you could of actually had a decently fast car. Just cause Hondas are well populated cars doesnt mean that you have to hate on them. Its a matter of yes hating on the little rice rockets thats different then hating on a car that somoene took the time to actually make it different and unique. :thefinger

OMG..you called me a fag...I'm telling
Obviously you can't read. Quote where I said anything bad about the civic hatch. Quote where I said all sports cars are all wheel drive. You answered your own question about the Tegs. My car now is WAY faster than the Teggy was, you are just conditioned to hate DSMs, the way we have a distaste for Hondas. I can quote where I said I have respect for CRXs, and also where you said the hatches are basically similar to the CRX, so by logical deduction, this means what? You can nitpick and take what I say out of context if you want.....that is your choice. It certainly doesn't make you right. I also have no problems with well built, clean Hondas.....my statements specifically target the fact that you are comparing apples to oranges when you even venture to say that a stock Civic is comparable to a stock DSM.

Im not takign what you say out of purportion at all. Im statign facts and its upseting you cause your obviously seeing good points cause your getting alittle quiet. and can you find one place in the forums where I ever said that I had a dislike for DSM? actually a while back i was looking into a gs-t but just never worked out. My cousin as one and hybird can verify that I just dont like to work on them but I have no problem with them. And when you saying abotu comparison, why dont you take price in that comparision. Your gonna pay 10 g's for your car and its a what 92? Im gonna pay 3g's for mine which is a 93, are you gonna give me the difference to invest into my car. Cause if your gonna talk stock vs stock you gotta talk price wise, cause I could build a way faster hatchback with only 9g's spending a grand less then you? So if you really wana talk logic lets think about that one huh?:loser:

Again, your reading comprehension is lacking, and you cannot answer my questions. I paid 10gs 7 years ago for a car with 19000 miles. Now, the car would go for 2-3k max. For another 2k it can run 12s. Quit doging my questions when I ask you to back up your statements. And here you are talking "stock for stock" and "building a car for 9 gs"....do you know what stock means? I think you do, and are too proud of the "H" on your bumper to admit that there is no comparison to make. And, last but not least, I am not "getting upset", I am having a lively discussion with Honda owners on an enthusiast website. I will still be able to sleep at night, and shut down Vettes with ease when we finish here .:bigthumb:

This must be one hell of a car you drive here what exactly is it again? You always just refer to it as a DSM are you not proud enough to say what you got? And you said stock vs stock i said equal money values. And Im very proud to drive my honda yes. As for answering your questions well buddy you gotta ask one for me to answer. I can back up everything I say you should trying bring your "DSM" in Carlisle once, that thing woudl get eaten alive by most the hondas in town. But you can keep talking all you want cause really you dont make that much sense.

In the future try a little mediation (see above) in your moderation (see above). Good day.
For this instance, the most appropriate definition would be:
One who presides over a meeting, forum, or debate.

\Pre*side"\, v. i. [L. praesidere; prae before + sedere to sit: cf. F. pr['e]sider. See Sit.] 1. To be set, or to sit, in the place of authority; to occupy the place of president, chairman, moderator, director, etc.; to direct, control, and regulate, as chief officer; as, to preside at a public meeting; to preside over the senate.
2. To exercise superintendence; to watch over.
Some o'er the public magazines preside. --Dryden.

With that in mind, at what point did I "side" specifically with my "boy"? In actuality, I sided against your narrow-minded argument against other cars, Honda in particular, regardless of who is on the other "side". If you had opened your eyes a bit more, you'd see that a lot of people here would agree with your choice of cars. At the same time, a lot of people, including me, will NOT agree on how you try and knock down other cars while building up yours.
With the dictionary definition I posted of what a sports-car is, a well-modified Civic would be considered a sports-car. Would I ever call a modified Civic one? No. Would you agree? Probably yes. Is that opinion over definition? Yes.
With that. we get to another point. Just because you or others you may know do not consider certain cars a certain way, doesn't mean that that defines that car. It's what defines it for you.
If you have problems understanding that last bit, you can always go back to Dictionary.com.
Lastly, name-calling in here is a :nono:. I know that what I don't see, will never bother me. If I was never pointed out to your ignorant comments, I would have never worried about you. But you have been, and I have seen it. Mutt? Consider this your warning.
Not because you called me a name, but because we have no use for somebody who uses name-calling as resort when pressured, regardless of whether he/she is in the wrong or not.
Again, you've been warned.
Same thing goes for the person who called you a fag, he gets a warning too. Although I can see where he's coming from (and no he's not my "boy", any more than you are), and I can't frankly see where yours came from.
Edit: I take that back. I looked at your post history, and you took the side of your 'boy'. Way to moderate, Mutt.

Please read the definition of 'mediate' once more. You have chosen a side, and still don't see the valid points I make. As for the "Mutt'" thing; I misread your user name. Perhaps if you used more triple triple letters I would have an easier time reading it. Warn me, whatever you have to do to keep from mediating, and go on with your life. I noticed you give no warning to the Honduh guy who called me a fag.....that is super mediation.
Edit: Just noticed the warning to the aforementioned grammar whiz. Thanks for mediating.:bigthumb:
Edit once again:With that. we get to another point. Just because you or others you may know do not consider certain cars a certain way, doesn't that that defines that car. It's what defines it for you.
Fair enough.

Please quote anywhere where I said I don't respect other cars? Nice shot at my car, as well. It may not be great in your eyes, but it is fine by me. What valid points? That most Hondas aren't sports cars? Do you consider your FWD Laser a sports car just because it has a turbo?
This is why I call you narrow-minded. I have already presented you with dictionary-definition of the word you keep using, yet you stick by YOUR definition, because it is what you prefer. Fine. Just quit ramming it into other people like it was gospel. It's your definiton.
By the way, if your read my post above again, we are going with the definition of moderate that doesn't include mediate. Preside is what were going with.

These even furthur proves my point about your hypocracy. Mine is crappy because I argued with you? Boo fucking hoo. Vettes are NOT a problem unless my IC pipe decides to pop off. Z06s are a challenge, but I have repeatedly beaten a friend of mine's. You are making assumptions and statements based on your frustration of being in an arguement that isn't going to change ANYONE's mind, and going about it rather poorly.

here is one of my def. of a non sports car. something that you have to swap the motor out of. there is no way you can say any honda with the same amount of money can hold up to a 4G63T(eclpise motor) powered car. the eclipse is not a sports car.neither is any thing honda makes other than the NSX
civic - econo car
accord - family car
integra - econo car
s2000 - roadster
don't get me wrong i own a honda and love it. honda motors are amazing as far as power to gas consumption but they are not that fast. i have many friends that are in the 12 seconds with N/A ls/vtec integras but the amount of money/time/work it took them to get there. i have alot of respect for fast hondas but a motor swap does not = a fast car.
so go ahead and flame me all you want i don't care. i just thought i would put my opion in. have fun:tongue:
and to carrrnuttt nice choice in a car.

Actually hondaboy if you learned your dsm's you would know there are RS AWD lasers (turbo AWD) i almost bought one a few months ago....so stick to your HONDUH forum from now on because you keep trying so hard to fit in..but the thing is....DSM is a "higher educated group of car owners" and we dont just sit around and talk about how fast our cars "COULD BE" we talk about how fast "THEY ARE" its a little diff. between honda and DSM.... we come fast...and can be made faster....hondas come Motionless...and can be made slow...and if you are really lucky..and are able to fork the funds out...they can be made average..but face it..DSM PWNS YOU :loser: :spit: :thefinger :icon16:

I actually almost bought a first gen eclipse gs when i was younger ... so it isnt like i dont like or have respect for these cars ... just the owners acting cocky.

Don't talk about forking the funds out either, because I know for a fact that hybridsol has a 10-second CRX for about 4,000 dollars. Also, it may be cheaper to get a DSM faster, but it is certainly not cheap to KEEP it there. How much are DSM trannies nowadays?
Bottomline: your car is NOT the end-all and be-all of cardom, and neither is the Honda. To the BMW M3 driver, which is far, FAR from the pinnacle of cars, you(DSM), him(Honda economy), and me(Nissan economy) is nothing more than a roadblock to his destination, regardless of how fast you think you are. So don't even.

LandoAWD hows that Crank of yours doing? Walking on ya?? How about that Head Gasket?... say How's that transmission of yours doing?
Yeah, you DSM owners are usually more educated. You've got to be to have a good enough career to fund your sports cars.
You're talking all this praise about your ultimate DSM car. Yet you state Z06's are a challenge. :eek7:
Friendly Bashing aside. I personally like the Eclipse and its brethren.
But I dont see whats the hype...

I'd say stock for stock they're pretty even. I mean... how can a economy car keep up with a sports car? Egad. The sky is falling!?
