I have met a FEW CRXs that hold a candle to my car. Power to weight on those things is VERY impressive with a turbo kit and nitrous.

please keep in mind that honda's don't come stock with forced induction systems, and some honda's have over 100hp per liter.

Like I said I have nothing agaist DSM's, but I would love to set up a race if your ever in the area.

The number of cylinders has nothing to do with a vehicles classification. I think you missed my point, and I can live with that. I have some folks up that way that would love to play :), but I hav only been up there once (War College..Carlisle??).

You had no point. You are comparing apples to oranges, and failed to produce any examples of a Honda sports car. I live in friggin NC, I really doubt I will be making the 7 hour drive for a race, but thanks for the offer. Perhaps you should get out of the Honda "defensive stance", and admit what they are; economy cars. As for my times, no runs have been taken down the track with the 20g setup, and for now will have to wait until I get my IC hoses to stay on for more than 20psi. :p I hope to be in the mid 11s with a good tune and 110 octane.

As for examples of honda sports cars - Type R integra, GSR integra, SIR civic, Si civic, SIR accord, and H22a a1 and a2 prelude just to name a few. As for your car, thats very impressive. Car was 10,000 dollars in 1997 (If purchased now..stock..2500) and I have less than 5 grand in mods not including the rims.:bigthumb: :loser:


Edit: 3 are in the states, but the GSR integra is an economy car.

You think that the name of that show was just made up? In the North American marketplace, engines have been built for torque, rather than horsepower (think pony car muscle car). As a rule, larger bore equals more horsepower, while a longer stroke equals more torque. A long stroke allows the engine to produce power for a longer period of time, and subsequently more torque. There is a drawback to a long stroke however. Because the piston must travel a longer distance, there is a physical limit to how many RPM the engine can achieve (not a high rev motor). On the opposite end of the spectrum, an engine with a large bore and short stroke will produce less overall torque, but has the ability to reach much higher revolutions per minute, and subsequently more horsepower. 5 a1 and a2 are both in america. None of these automotives are economy cars. They are reffered to as "sport compact cars", as are your DSM's.

No it has to do with the meaning of high rev tuner, which you seem to think is only a show on speed vision, (where do you think they got the name?). I don't watch the show often but I'm gonna guess they don't work on many F-bodies.

You have no problems counting the GSR (b18c1), and the Type R (b18c5). But you do have a problem counting the two different prelude models?

Well my name is CJ not "Timmy", and my car is anything but slow. I hope to show you that in the future, as for now ask around most ppl know me and I'm pretty easy to get along with. This thread has strayed far from its topic my apolagies for that, I just don't enjoy honda bashing as many of you know.

I never even IMPLIED that I didn't know what that meant, I was stating my reason for laughing at the phrase.

The GSR is NOT a sports car, it is a high trim package economy car. I owned one for my first car. I agreed that the Type R is a sports car.

My point is valid, your the one talking in circles, furthermore you have proven nothing. You also failed to post a list of DSM sports cars. But then again I'm not denying the exsistance of DSM sport compacts just that they are comparable to honda's sport compacts.

hmm... may I point out another car that happens to be Honda, and 4-cylinder, and IS considered a Sports Car, by definition (see previous post about that one)

The S-2000 makes 240hp from a 4-cyl, with I believe 16 valves. If I remember correctly (please do correct me if I'm wrong) I read somewhere that this was the maximum allowable HP per cyl/valve in Japan 60hp per cylinder with 4 valves per cylinder.

But the fact is, Engine size makes not a damn bit of difference. Its what the car is built for, what purpose it will serve. I own a 91 Turbo Laser, and I don't consider it a Sports Car.

This debate/argument/whatever is pretty pointless. The definition of sports car is practally just an opinion now. Some may argue that a "sports car" is only rwd... but what does it really matter? It's like arguing whether "real" muscle cars have only manual transmissions or how many generations of Chevy Nova's there are.... just like arguing whether imports or domestics are better. Totally pointless. Folks like hybrid may even be considered hot rodders! shit.. what the hell is a hot rod now a days?

In my opinion, the definition of a sports car comes more from the owner's heart.

For the folks who are unfimiliar with Hybrid: You guys would be at least somewhat amazed at his ability with cars and what he can and has done. I doubt that many of the folks here at AF really do almost all their own motor work and all that jazz.....

actually alot of people on AF do all their own work....i do all my work.... turbo kits, motor swaps, suspension mods, nitrous installs, stereo installs, dvd installs, you name it i prob have done it..matter fact im doing a motor rebuild tomorrow on my new gs-t i got since it has a broke rod...

Yea.. I know there are a number of folks on AF that do thier own work.. Not many are as skilled as you... Take me for example, I would be soooo fucked if I had to install new intake manifolds(upper and lower) along with a new cam for my car by myself... I am definitely trying to learn everything I can though.

So I feel that it is safe to assume that most folks here dont do all their own work. :biggrin: Good day.

Aww, how cute, another friend. I'm still waiting on the reasoning behind them being sports cars. They are underpowered cars that are built for gas mileage, and reliability. I have owned a 92EX that stayed virgin, and a 94 GSR, that was lightly modded, and they are not sports cars. They are slow, have crazy body roll, and lets not forget about the 4 doors on most Civics. Hell, I conceeded that the GVR-4 was an econobox based on tis door count alone, even though it retains the 4g63t engine, and AWD. As for "dumbasses leik me", get an education, troll. I never once said, "All hondas are slow". I praised the CRX when modded. What do you ricers want from me. You are just pissed off because of and internet discussion your boy can't handle. First off your just mad cause you cant get any friends to come in a forum an openly admit that they woudl want to run around with a fag like you. Second explain to me how a crx and a hatchback vary? can you do that cause as most know the only thing differaent about the two is the body style as for tranny, engine and suspension many of the same parts are used on the two cars. Therefore you must classify the civic hatchback as a sports car if your gonna call a crx one. With that in mind, at what point did I "side" specifically with my "boy"? In actuality, I sided against your narrow-minded argument against other cars, Honda in particular, regardless of who is on the other "side". If you had opened your eyes a bit more, you'd see that a lot of people here would agree with your choice of cars. At the same time, a lot of people, including me, will NOT agree on how you try and knock down other cars while building up yours.

What valid points? That most Hondas aren't sports cars? Do you consider your FWD Laser a sports car just because it has a turbo?

here is one of my def. of a non sports car. something that you have to swap the motor out of. there is no way you can say any honda with the same amount of money can hold up to a 4G63T(eclpise motor) powered car. the eclipse is not a sports car.neither is any thing honda makes other than the NSX

don't get me wrong i own a honda and love it. honda motors are amazing as far as power to gas consumption but they are not that fast. i have many friends that are in the 12 seconds with N/A ls/vtec integras but the amount of money/time/work it took them to get there. i have alot of respect for fast hondas but a motor swap does not = a fast car.
