2001 impala 3.8 L 122,000 miles. Had the car checked out catalytic converter is clogged. Car drives rough cant go over 55mph..struggles from 30-40mph.
Any recommendations. should i just replace the cat? is it an expensive job? is it just the cat or another pipe attached to it? can the cat be cleaned out, is there any kind of solution or liquid that can clean the exhaust out. is there anything the dealer can do? i bought this car used, is there a warranty or not anymore? thanks

I believe there is an extended warranty (something like 10yrs/120k or 8yr/80k) that GM has instituted for certain year Impalas because the converters went bad early. Someone else might be able to elaborate further on this .

Call your Chevy dealer with your vin, and they will be able to tell you if your car qualifies for the extended warranty. Since you are just over the 120k mile mark, if you pitch a bitch, they should do it for free.

The extended GM warranty on the bad CAT is 10 years/120,000 miles...

you are correct on everything. i had the same problem with my 2002 impala. At the time i had 110km and i got there just in time. I hope this helps.
