SL1 Ignition Switch

I have a 2001 SL1 and the key has not been turning easy for a few months now. I get back into town and now it won't turn the ignition at all. Is this a fix for the dealer service or can I just buy a new bolt on switch and connect the wire harness? Thanx

check to see if ur key is worn, u may have to get a new 1 cut

Got new key cut, still don't work in ignition. Gonna get new lock put in when I get back in town. Thanx

I just got a 92 Neon, and all of its locks were stiff. I put a drop of oil on the key and put it into the ignition switch: Then repeated this over a few times, waiting about ten minutes each time. I did the same for each of the door locks and trunk locks. They all got much easier to turn. This used to be a common problem on older Hondas and Volvos too.
