Welcome to AF, are you proposing that you have a 348 engine from a 58 Impala and want to transplant this into a 2005 Monte, please we are all waiting to hear this.

No can do, the fwd architecture would have to be changed to rwd and a chassis fabricated to get a rear axle in place and major mods to install the engine and the appropriate rwd trans, you need a new plan here.

Yea, this I gotta see!!! You'd have to turn the thing upside down and remove everything under it, just for a start.... Would that unibody stand up to the torque?

Like putting that motor in a 1991 to 1996 Caprice or Impala SS:evillol: . RWD and ready to go.

Get the idea/fantasy out of your head. You could put any W-body Imp SS drivetrain in it for way less money and one millionth of the aggravation. Next!!!...

Because you would end up with a car the looks like a 2005 Impala on the outside, and everything else would have to be changed or completely fabricated to make this project work. It would be a huge amount of work, and require a lot more $$$ than it would be worth. Go with the 96 SS.

No they are right. Sorry.:) You would besically have to rip the whole floor out. You know how rear wheek drive cars have that raised tunnel in the floor that goes from front to back of the car, that is missing in the front wheel drive Impala. There is a lot more. It would be a lot easier to get a 2005
-06 V8 Impala SS and customise that maybe a supercharger / suspension / engine mods.
