15x7 or 17x7
the wheels i want only come in those two size although i would really like to have a 16
these would go on a black 4th gen sedan if i'm not able to get an NX2000

I'd say 17's, they're a lil bit too big for the factory tire size on the civic, but it's not enough to bother with, if you're using 205/40 rubbers.
just have to be careful over bumps and potholes, and don't curb the rims :P duh.

WTH is the point of having a bad ass beater if you have to be careful?
Curbing rims should be left to the 17 year olds... sheesh :disappoin
BLU, stay away from the rubber bands...

lol @ bad ass beater... that's a good one..
I'm pretty careful around potholes and bumps anyway, no matter if I have stock wheels, or $189047514 pimped out platinum/diamond rims with glitter and shine all over them, and lil fish floating in my clear rubber tires that are filled with miracle water.
ok.. that was gay.. my apologies.. either way, i prefer the look of less rubber/more metal.. just me tho.
it's a thing.. anyway, like I said, I'm pretty careful about my stuff.. I work really hard on it, and to get it.. so I'd rather not have it destroyed b/c I took a nice dip in a pot hole on the road..
however, thinking about it, you'd get a better ride with 15's.. not to mention a lil more stability on bumpy roads or any place that tireflexibility would help out. can I change my vote?

heh, that's going to have alot of torque.. I wasn't aware it was going to be a modified car... with an H23, you could safely go with 205/45 or 205/50 or 215/45 or 215/50 or maybe even 215/55 on a 17... which means that you'll have the meat to protect the rims, and you'll have more surface diameter of the tire, meaning your top speed will be faster, and you'll get less wheelspin due to over torque condition.. I rescind my previous statement, I'd rather have the 17's... faster @ less rev's, and no worries about torque being a problem.

That's pretty funny. I get what you're saying though. But since Blu is planning on dropping in an H23 I'd think that 15x7" rims with BFG drag radials up front or something similar would be more beneficial than big rims with street tires.
I too am always careful on shitty roads, even with a 4x4 Jeep. But, when it's time to play you need the right equipment. I never bought rims for my CRX because the 9lb. 86' CRX Si 14" rims were perfect for going from tarmac to gravel/dirt and back again (maybe even a tad bit of air in between ).
What can I say? I love the small rims...

All depends on what your trying to achieve.
Going for more of a showcar look?? Go with 17's
If you wanna go fast, and look more JDM go for the 15s...
I personally love my 17s, I think they look rad!

ill got with the last post. if your lookin more looks get 17 and put a 40 or 45 series on the wheels. if you want to go for speed get 15 with a 50 series on the wheels. 17's weigh more and have a bigger circumference which i heard can slow down there car which i still dont know is true but it will make your speedometer off by 7% i think. 15's with a 50 series are actually a tiny bit smaller that the stock wheels and tires on the CRX Si which gives more revolutions per mile which i would think to be a good thing.

more revs at the tires = more rev's at the engine to go the same distance... bigger tires means less engine rev's per tire rev.
Bigger rims will not weigh more than smaller ones, necessarily... the tire in most cases makes up the largest weight difference in the combination, so both points are wrong.
Yes, your speedometer will be off, but 7% may not necessarily be true, that would all depend on what size tire you're using... 205/40ZR16 tires are EXACTLY a match to 175/70R13 which comes on Civic LX stock. They would be the best... the next obvious choice, since you can't exactly match with a 17 inch rim would be a 205/40 tire, or if you could get a company to make them, it would be a (I believe) 185/30R17 to match the stock circumference.
good luck... call nankang for that one.
Other than that, yes, if you go bigger or smaller, there is a difference in the speedo, b/c it's particularly calibrated to your original tire size. Imagine your tire as just another gear... bigger tire = higher top speed, smaller tire = faster acceleration... same goes for torque loss... bigger = more, smaller = less.
On another point... Yes, the more weight you add to the rotating mass that the engine has to spin, the slower it gets to the speed that you want... weight is like a brake, in terms that the more weight there is, the slower something will spin... also, it takes more to slow down.

I still think big wheels with rubber band tires are simply an eye sore and YES more than likely heavier.

I wouldn't use extremely tiny tires... I'd have to be too careful... but like, for the BMW I'm hoping to buy soon, I'll be getting 18" rims with 235/45 tires on them... they're a lil bigger than the stock tire size, but that's not a problem for me... (this would be a 105.5mm side wall height, hardly a gum band)
I prefer the look of more metal than tire, except on older cars... muscle looks like shit with rubber bands on it... but, I never go for all the chrome and shine associated with big rims... dubs are retarded... unless your car can handle 20's... and even then, "bling" looks like shit.. and if you spend more time polishing your wheels than you do driving your car, it doesn't mean you're a "baller" it means you're an idiot. :)
Happy Driving!

only a few words of the many I'd like to say to some of the people I meet on a daily basis... there are idiots around here with 80's cars that have 22's and 24's on them... and of course, in most cases, you have to lift the car's suspension to get those under it... and their cars are 1)slow as shit, 2) in need of paint and body work, and 3)seriously worn out from all the retarded driving that kids in NY do.
But they never fail to keep those wheels (that cost more than most cars do retail) clean as a whistle, and ready to impress any girl that is just getting out of high school that day... (b/c no real woman would be impressed by a shiny set of rims on the shittiest car in the world.)
