Impala 9C1 strut/shock replacment?

I read the police package details on the 00-05 W-body impala's from chevy's website before and just out of curiousity what is a police package impala owner to do if he needs a replacement, it could of bumped a curb and bent hit a nasty pothole. From what I read impala 9c1 struts are nitrogen filled and will last the lifetime of the vehicle.
