My 2000 Imapla has been cutting off on me. The problem initially started a couple of months ago. For example, when I go to the grocery store the car will start right up. When I get out of the grocery store the car won't start. It turns over put it will not start. I have to wait 10-15 min or sometimes more and then the car will start. Recently the car has been actually cutting off on me while I'm driving. If it does that, I again have to wait about 15 min or more for it to start back up.

Forgot to mention!!! I went to Auto Zone and had the battery tested and it was a bad battery. I was told that wouldnt be the reason it would shut off while driving. If someone could direct me toward fixing this problem I would greatly aprecaited. Thanks.

Welcome to AF.
Did you change the battery, and is the car still stalling? If the battery had an intermittent short in it, it could cause the car to stall. The battery could take all the current being produced, not leaving enough to run the car. I would also inspect the charging system (alternator, battery cables, belt, etc...). If system voltage checks out (12.4-13.2 volts key off, 13.8-15.4 volts with the car running), then I'd suspect the crank position sensor or ignition module as the cause of your stalling/no start. They will fail when they get hot, and then work when they cool off.

Hello sorry about getting back to you so late. But the crankshaft was part of the problem as well as the battery. Thanks for the advice you were a big help.
