hey guys just about to do an valve adjustment on my 00 civic sir. now does it matter which way i check for clearance? like i checked cyl#1 intake valve(0.006) from the back it's got a lot of drag but from the front it's perfect slight drag. is there a trick to it? aswell as taking off the crank pulley will it affect the timing?
thanks

I would suggest taking it to a shop and let them do this. It shouldn't cost more than $75 and they know exactly what they're doing. No, removing the crank pulley will not affect engine timing as the timing belt is still attached to the crank sprocket when the pulley is removed.

I can rebuild and tune a Holley 800 cfm carb to any motor. Adjusting the valves on a D16Y8 was infinitely harder. DO NOT do it unless you have some one who knows EXACTLY what they are doing and have done it is with you. One mistake in that interferance motor and you need a new motor.

The first time I did my valves was when I got the car at 16. Just followed the Haynes manual and it went fine. I've done it a few other times since then and have never had a problem. Just my :2cents:
