I like many others have a 2000 Windstar which had a problem of stalling at idle and hesitating about a month ago. Took to shop...no codes...ran fine. They couldn't diagnose. Problem magically disappeared.

Last week problem re-occurred. This time had code for P1450 and P1504. Shop replaced the IAC. Problem remained intermittently. They were unable to find other causes other than recommending dealer. Any suggestions on what other things might be worth checking before commiting to dealer?

thanks

thanks Fuel pump relay and also PCM relay fail intermittently until they fail totally. I would get some news relay at a Ford part counter ($20 or less for both) and change them. THere is a lot a chance that your problem could be fixed.

Thanks for the relay tip! I'll give it a try this weekend. Also saw some posts suggesting cleaning the MAF?

One note...at times the intermittent stalling occurs when you first try to start it...then it will not idle on startup unless you rev it.

From the symptom you describe.....it makes sense that they replaced the IAC, as that is a classic symptom of a sticking IAC.
I would hope that he new one is not failing the same way right out of the box.

Intermittent fuel pump relays, fuel pump, and other fuel system problems are tough to track down as the OBDII system on the Windstar does not monitor fuel pressure or fuel flow.....so no codes will be set telling you specifically that you have a fuel system problem.
