I currently own a 2000 impala and my a/c vent is stuck blowing air in the forward and donward position. B/C of that, I have more air coming out at my foot instead of my head/chest area......

Any Idea how to fix it??

Thanks,

the vents usually workoff a vaccum system, im not certain that impalas do but the issue may be in the head unit or maybe a leak in the vaccuum resevoir

There is a vacuum line under the hood that runs from the engine, under/next to the battery, and then to the firewall that supplies the vacuum to the HVAC. It is common to crack as they become brittle with time. Lack of vacuum will cause what you describe, as the HVAC system defaults to part floor, part defrost when there is a problem.

ricktazz.....nice....niceeeeee....that's exactly what it was on my car....under the hood...near or behind the battery....my vacuum line simple got too hot...and broke in half right at the rubber boot connection...

A piece of the actual line broke off inside the boot itself..so I took the boot off...and used my pocket knife to cut that small piece off...I then put it all back to gether....and used some clear duct tap...as a sort of SEAL...around the entire repair...and BOOOOM....MAX...MAX air again...

Man...I feel like I have a new car...the air blows so much...

Thanks for the tip....!
