How could I do this? It doesn't look like it could be done because of the a/c and radio panel. But, if it can be done could you point me in the right direction. I also searched, but did not come up with anything

You can put aftermarket anything in your car. I will say this, its quite expensive compared to the conventional car. I have aftermarket radio and speakers in my 99 , same layout. It was a PITA, and very pricy. You will have to by a special face plate (it has all climate controlls etc.. . ) Its the same shape as the factory one. I can take a picture to show you what it looks like if you want. I can also try and get the part number for you. I do know is will cost in between 80 - 135 for the face plate, then you will need to buy a Harness with that Could cost up to 120. Course this all depends where you get it from. The harness that you have to buy, runs through the car, from the back of radio face plate to the trunk where the actual reciever and factory amp is located.
So the installation in itself is a pretty penny, but you will be happy with the results. I had a guy on a forum I frequently go to , he is actually selling all that you need, he has a 97, but it should be the same. I can get in touch with em , Im shure it will be ALOT cheaper that way. Let me know if your interested ?
