I need some help in making the right decisions on my current project. Here's the scenario.
To begin with, I tore up my original LT1 in my 96 Impala SS, due to a serious overheating problem. I have purchased another LT1 with only 40k miles on it to replace mine.
A friend of mine sold me his aluminum LT1 heads off of his 96 Camaro LT1. The heads have been professionally ported and polished, but are bare. My intentions are to buy the LT4 Hot Cam kit from Summit. However, I do not know what kind/size intake&exhaust valves to purchase for my heads that I will be assembling.
Also, being that the motor I will be putting these head on only has 40 thousand miles on it, will the stock lifters and push-rods be OK to use? Please keep in mind that I am not trying to build a race motor, but simply a motor with more spunk for the street.

Thank you and have a Great day!
Adam

Summit should be able to tell u what parts go best with your cam kit. Or call the manufactuer of the cam kit. They would have the ultimate answer for you. If I had near 100k miles or more and ur doing ported heads and a cam kit, I would change the lifters and push rods to prevent possibly having to tear the motor apart again in the near future. I wouldnt want to find out the hard way they cant handle the new hp. At 40k its more of a toss up for me.

Since everything is apart, make sure the valve springs are perfect, if not then replace. You can put some new valve seals in it and some roller rockers if u dont already have some.

a lot more info can be had on the LT1 and LS1 Camaro/Trans Am boards such as: lt1tech.com and camaroz28.com ls1.com and many others just google them or look for links off these sites...
