The bulbs that light up the dual Climate Controls on my 2003 Impala has burnt out on me and for the life of me I can't see any way possible to replace them. I thought maybe by removing the Ashtray I could gain access, but I don't see any way I can get back there to change both Bulbs. I'm about ready to :banghead: !!! Does anyone have any sollution to this problem.

Thanks

Bad news.... The whole unit will have to be replaced. It happend to me, but lucky me, it happend 2 days after buying the car, so it didn't cost me a penny to fix. Hope this helps....

My 2003 impala's went out too but what I did was remove the climate control, dissasemble it and replace the bulbs. They are soldered to the circuit board, you just need to make sure you get the correct bulbs.

Try places like Radio Shack or other specialty electronics type stores for the bulbs. If possible bring the bulbs or the unit in with you to match them up. This is especially helpful if the bulb may have a new or superseded part number.

I thought this thing was non-seriviceable?

anything is serviceable when you take it apart. When we say nonserviceable we mean the bulbs aren't accessible from the outside of the unit like they used to be. You have to take the unit apart completely to get to the bulbs.

Does anyone know how many and what size LEDs are needed to replace all of the bulbs in the climate control module? Don't really want to take it apart before I buy the bulbs and begin the project.

They are NOT LEDs which is why they are burned out. Radio Shack has the bulbs you need. They come in a package of 2 and are 12 volts and have leads attached.

I realize that they are not LEDs. I am interested putting LEDs in, as I have seen a company or two doing on some of the impala sites. I just don't want to pay the price that they are charging and I don't want to tear it apart first to determine how many I need for the project.

This is for the guage cluster but the LED upgrade would be similiar:

Thanks to everyone for the info. I had no idea that it would be this involved, that's insane!! I miss the older cars that just used small Light Bulbs behind the Panel. I'm sure this is to sucker most people in to taking their Cars to the Dealership so they can charge them an Arm and a Leg for replacing a simple Light. It seems like I may end up being one of those suckers who take it to the Dealer. The control itself seems to damn hard to even take apart and with a bad Back ontop of it, I don't see myself being able to climb up under the Dash to attempt it.

Thanks again to everyone and have a Great 4th of July :smokin:
