Strange Transmission problem

We have a 1999 Ford Windstar with a weird transmission problem and am not looking forward to the answer but here goes.
Wife was driving Windstar with no hint of slippage or problems. She pulls in our driveway which has a slight incline and the transmission just stopped. No gears what so ever. Usually on a good transmission you can feel it go into the gears but there is no difference in what I put it in.
I pulled the pan and there is no debris and the fluid looked good.
Changed fluid and filter and all is the same.
I did check under the hood and saw that the lever on the transmission does move so I am at a loss.
