pulling the tranny out of our 01 and im running into a snag. its all but ready to come out but i have one bolt hanging me up. between the block and bellhousing there is 5? bolts 2 on the very top, two more to the left and down from the top and, one that goes through the block first and threads into the transmission. thats the nasty one. its tight in there and i can get a box end wrench on it but cant rotate it without hitting the back exhaust manifold. I know if the manifold wasnt there i could pretty much come at if from any angle but im really trying to avoid it. so if anyone has been there, works in a shop or just has an idea, please lay it on me. i would greatly appreciate it.

Get a REALLY long extention with a wobble 18MM socket and go in from the passenger side wheel area
Something like this 1/2 or 3/8
http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?cat=Mechanics+Tools&pid=00944134000&vertical=TOOL&subcat=Socket+Accessories&BV_SessionID=@@@@1814046445.1177039017@@@@&BV_EngineID=cdceaddkjljljhjcefecemldffidfmm.0
And this..... Impact sockets are better but this will do:

If you buy the 1/2 extension and the 3/8 socket you will need this..

THANK YOU! that is a darn good suggestion, unfortunately it did not work, there is just no angle on it. but being as i busted the crossover pipe studs in the back manifold i made the decision to bite the bullet and pull the manifold, after that the bolt came out nice and easy but the rest of the tranny was still a PITA to get out... cant wait to re-install.... any tips there?? :)
