I have the same issue randomly. sound goes in and out, usually accompanied by a pop. radio has power and displays properly. I'm thinking there is a problem with the amp?

In relation to my previous post I went out to my car this morning and the power comes on for the radio/sterio but there nothing coming through it at all now, radio,cd,cass, has no sound at all ,any suggestions anyone?you will have to take out the front pass seat, take up the carpet in the rear pass side, unwrape you wiring harness there is an orang wire there that looks like a fusiable link that goes to orange wires into one, this is probaly your cause,it's corroded, cut off the bad wire and rejoin it with some new wire, this is the main power wire that controls your rear amp, these sterios wonk work without the amp,if it's corroded that may mean you hav a leak in your cars somewhere and the water and dampness helped to corrode this wire, get back to me on this at my email chaulky38@yahoo.ca

This is exactly what happened! Thanks for the help.
I had expected the connection you were talking about to be under the front seat. I could have done this in my car without removing the seat.
The connection in my base 04 impala was just at the back side of the pillar by the door jamb passenger side.. 1 orange into 2 orange joined by a spot of corroded solder and wrapped in duct tape.... un beleivable!!
Thanks for finding me the Fix!!

Thanks for finding me the Fix!!i had a water leak in which most impalas did below the right wiper arm ,there is a rubber strip that falls off for diverting the water so it does not leak into the pass side of the car through the heater motor, this water fills up the pass side of the car front and rear and corrodes the wires in the harness,i took out my seat because she was full of water front and rear, fixed the orange wires and the sterio worked again

OMG!!!! I have the exact same link. All this time, i've been thinking it's because my windshield got smashed and I had to replace it. So where's this rubber piece you're talking about, what does it look like, and can I just go out and buy one for ~$10. Or is it regular AC Delco price $50+? LOL

LOLunder your right wiper arm there is a plastic piece that has to come off, under that peice there is a rubber strip 6-8 inches long,if it is off put some silicone on it and put it back on
