Where can you get a book that tells you what to look at when you have a code. Some codes are general,with many possible causes.

The Chilton and Haynes service manuals for your specific car will have them. One has a few more over the other for some reason, i think it's chiltons. there are a few websites out there also that will give definitions. Buying a code reader usually includes a book or definition list of some kind.
