2000 Windstar - Mass Airflow Sensor code & rough running

Last week I has to fix a stripped bolt on the Low/Intermediate servo cover which involved removing the cover & server, cutting new threads, putting it all back together with a new seal, and then topping off the fluid.
Today, a week later, my wife said the van wouldn't start. I told her to hold the pedal to the floor while she cranked to flush it (worked on my saturn) and it started and died shorthly thereafter. She repeated until it stayed running. After a 20 mile trip the check engine light came on.
Autozone read the code and told me it says Mass Airflow Sensor. This is on my 2000, I recall a number of years ago when I had a 1998 Windstar there was a broken rubber hose coming out the top of the motor that caused a check engine light. Perhaps I will check that.
I just seems coincidental that I just repaired this other problem with the tranny prior to this cropping up.
Any feedback on this situation? I will check it tonight when I go home.
Thanks.

Any chance you got the actual code number? Autozone is notorious for recommending a change of O2 or MAF sensors for any trouble code that pops up. If you don't have the code I'd go back and ask for the specific code number, then post back.

yes i'm sure..it amazed me 02 never popped up i told her the 02 would pop up but it never..but your right 99% of the time it's the first thing..and it said maf sensor and they were right..and too you get others at the zone that you don't reconise watch out for them..im so sure that when i put it on it ran...but you can take them apart and clean the screen some times there's 3 little screws in it...and no on the code..good luck....
