To other like minded people like yourself you're points would be discussed and agreed on but with other people like myself who think "yeah the viper/hennessey whatever looks smart but it doesn't have the style and the prescence that a Lambo has or any other supercar in fact". You compare a Hennessey Viper to a McLaren, what in speed? How about looks? How about what most people would go for if they had the choice? If you said to a crowd of people: "Hey, you can have any of these cars, a Hennessey Viper, A McLaren F1, A Ferrari Enzo, Aston Martin Vanquish or a Lamborghini Diablo/Murciélago?" I can guarantee you the Viper wouldn't get many people choosing it and do you know why? Because it's big, it's ugly (imho) and it's no fun to drive in Europe or even as a day to day car. Hell an Evo7, Skyline or Scooby I would probably take over a Viper. Just cause it's their doesn't mean you gotta take it.

I'm an American and I own a Murielago. Why? over a Viper?

Granted, a Viper is cool and fast but...

1) When one drives up no one says "My god, what kind of car is that!" -or- "Awsome, Ive never seen one of those." They say "There's another Viper."

2) To MOST people in both continents, there is a world of difference in the emotional impact that the name "Lamborghini" has over name "Viper".

3) If I sell my Lamboghini next year it will be worth 90-100% Of what I paid. If I drive a Hennesey off the lot its worth 70% of ts original cost.
So we'll both lose 25k in the first year. You paid 25k to drive a "Viper".

digital: i never intended to push my views on anyone. crazyjay was the one that made it personal. i love european exotics just as much as the next person. i'm just more into american muscle. i was just wondering why a lamborghini, ferrari, etc. costs so much more than a venom 800 when the venom beats most of them in every category. you can admit it, i already know, it's the name. you pay the extra $$$ to have ferrari or lamborghini printed on your car. tony proved that for me when he posted. he wants ordinary people (not car enthusiasts) to say "wow! look at that!" but guess what, i get that kind of attention when i drive my Jeep around town. it's good and all but i like it better when someone comes up to me and asks me what type of suspension i got, if i did the v8 conversion myself, and stuff like that. i like impressing the people who know cars, not people who don't know how the internal combustion engine works. and yes, if i was given the decision, i would take the mclaren over all those cars. i would drive for a couple weeks, sell it, buy a hennessey, then have $700,000 to spend on whatever i wanted. let's see, i'd have a faster car, a competition rock crawler, a new dodge ram to tow it with, a nice Mopar muscle car with a Hemi, a house, my college education funded, and so forth.

No Lamborghini could take on a Viper GTS/R, now I realize that's not what your comparing it to, but look at how successful it was in LeMans, it could do 240 mph with only 700 hp, and it had a DOHC V-10 instead of the OHV V-10, it was extremely light, and could hold 1.67 lateral g's. Now who would want what more is anyone's opinion, US AMERICANS, which love low end torque would rather have something like a Hemi Cuda 440 or the Viper than the Murcielago/Diablo because that's the way we are, me, I would prob take the Viper just because I am American, but I have total respect for a Lambo and would definately take one if given the chance. well personally i hate mb that´s probably cause of the family because my dad and mum worked for bmw and there´s a big rivalry

I'm only kidding buddy (not about my dad, thats what he did), you just have to see that this is what happens to most people... you start off with a BMW but as you get older a Mercedes, which represents the shift from your priorities: first you want a sporty yet luxurious car to drive, but then you want a more relaxing and comfortable car to drive, perhaps a little more luxurious but sacrificing the sporty drive...
personally, i wouldnt want a Merc for the next 10 years at least. BMW for me: im hoping for a 330Ci Sport big-time! but when i get older, im sure Mercs will begin to look very attractive... thats just the way it goes :)

now a 540 and a z3
2003 we´ll get another 540 and a z4

and he is thinking of buying a ferrari or lamborghini! but it must be a cabrio!
my dad is not so much against mb like me but he would ALWAYS prefer a BMW to a MB!

i see... why are you getting another 540? isnt one enough!?! :D or is it that youre getting the new one (e60)?
