not to be rude but these cars aren't meant for anything but from getting to point a to point b

yea i know thats why i have a built 1991 formula with a 355 sbc, but it's nice to fiddle around with all kinds of cars. heck if thats the way you look at it. there'd be a lot of honda guys pretty pissed off.

yea i know but stock these cars do high 16's with the mp3 tranny with a dohc engine and with the same engine but the auto mp7 tranny it does low 17's.

you don't gotta run 12's to have fun. most FWD cars are slow from the factory. When i wanna go fast i drive my Formula. To me it's just semi amusing to see how much quicker i can get this thing. I can honeslty say that my sl1 isn't the slowest thing at the track. theres ppl running 18's and 20 second times in there ex civics and domestic family cars. it's all in good fun. don't let ppl's gay views on speed stop you from having fun. most ppl that mock other ppl for having sohc cars aren't even running quick times them selves. The dohc guys always pick on the sohc guys when it comes to saturns, but the dohc guys are only running 16's themselves. Honda guys are the funniest. they talk about superior technology, hp per liter, and refinement. then they get in the swapped decked out civic hatchback and run a low 15 second pass. gotta love that.

Oh, and you should check out some J-body guys. theres a bunch of them guys with single cam 2.2's running mid 15's. no matter what you have it always comes down to how much you wanna spend. I've owned a couple really fast cars. Going fast in a car is like fucking a chick with big tits. everyones gotta do it once.

yea but put it this way. there is a saturn drag car that only runs 12 now for a drag car that is not that quick.

yea, i'm not looking to run 12's. I already know that theres isn't a ton of potential with the sohc, but then again i've only read about one guy that has a turbo setup on a sohc. like i said it's all about how much you wanna spend. I don't really wanna spend a ton of money on a fwd car, but if a person wanted to they could build up a sohc. theres tons of single cam hondas making 250-400whp. you just gotta build up your internals and run a shit load of boost.. pretty much with any fwd car your gonna need to run a ton of boost to be fast.

Heres what i'm aiming for... By adding some bolt on's to my sl1 not only would i make it quicker and more fun to drive, i'd make it more comfortable to drive. easier to drive in everyday situations. I have to keep this car till it's paid off so i might as well make it a little funner. I'm even thinking of running a small nitrous shot if i can make it into the low 16's. Think about it no one has gotten a sohc into the 15's. i'd be the first to do that. imagine what a sleeper it would be. i could race all these poser honda guys with swapped motors and make some money. i can see where you would want to shun away the idea of moding an sl1, but that just makes me wanna do it and prove other wrong even more.

And i'll tell you this, if other sl1 owners saw the possibilities of what i will acheive, there will be a lot of other ppl that wouldn't be afraid of moding there sl1's. Just out of curiosity what are you driving?

there are reasons they don't use the sohc. the head is to resitricted. and that is jsut one of them.

It's good enough for what i'm trying to do. They do offer performance heads now that are port and polished.
