How hard is replacing this? Simple? Or would it be easier to just have a shop do it?

I've changed a few in different engines.
I think it may be the easiest to do, it's right there in front of you, in the clear.
Got any buddies into autos? It sounds like you're not the mechanic type.
Maybe get a Haynes manual.
If you do it yourself, clean the area first. No sense getting dirt inside your engine. Be careful. That cover is aluminum, and they can be fragile, be careful removing it.
And the manual will tell you how tight to put things back.
