There is an annoying squeaking noise coming from the glove box/ passenger side area. Most of the time i have the radio up and cant hear it but when i can hear it... ever little bump it does it. Any ides on what it could be?

Mouse?
Don't laugh. It could be. Especially if the car has cabin filters in the back of the glove box to filter incoming air. On one of my Ventures, mice had eaten away at the filter material and were able to gain access to the inside of my glovebox. Not a very pretty sight, when I discovered it. They had started to eat at my invoices, and maps, etc., and left their little black "calling cards" all over the place. If you have inboard cabin filters in your vehicles, it is a good idea to check them regularly, especially in the fall and early winter as the rodents are looking for a nice place to stay.

Any other suggestions? Could it be a spring in the passenger seat? It sounds like a squeaky mattress.

Many years ago a customer came into our shop complaining about the same situation. It turned out to be the "squirrel cage" attached to the blower motor had become loose and there was a wobble which made a squeaking type sound.

Actually, if it's happening going over bumps, I would check out the right front strut. If it's squeaking, it could sound like it's coming from the glove box.

My 04 was doing the same thing ... turned out to be the glove box door... I asked my wife to hold the door while driving on a bumpy road and it stopped. I tried lubing the hinges and door contact points but it still squeaked .. It was only after I took out the excess weight (flash light and other stuf) that it stopped squeaking .. I had fogotton about it until reading this post ..

Thanks I'll try moving stuff out of the glove department. I don't know how to check the strut or where to locate the squirrell cage.

The squirrel cage is the impeller (fan blade) attached to the blower motor. When the motor bushings start to go, it will cause the impeller to wobble and vibrate or make a high pitched squealing noise.

Well I don't think it is the cage then because the car does not make a peep when it is not moving - Even with the fans on 5. On my drive home tonight I will empty the glove compartment and see if that helps - If not it is probably the strut. Anyone know how much a strut costs to fix?

I took everything out of the glove compartment and it still makes the noise. How would I go about checking the cage around the blower motor? The strut does not squeak if I physically push the car hood down.

Try rubbing a little petroleum jelly on the rubber bump stop(s) and use a crayola or candle wax on the latch mechanism...I had this an an older car and this solved it for me. It was a Lumina. My 02 has a rattle there somewhere I can't seem to get a handle on.
