I have 1 cylinder not working. Can anyone tell me some possible causes? See "My car is possessed" to get some history on my car. I found out today that the battery and altenator (only a year old) were shot. They charged me 425 to replace both. Now the car starts but they said its only running on 3 cylinders. Now it dies at almost every light and stop sign. HELP:banghead:

Did they give you at least a guess on why the cylinder doesn't work? I would think that you HAVE to be getting an SES light if that's true so get the codes. When my Satty ran on 3 cylinders it was because one or more of the spark plugs were covered in oil (thanks to a cracked head among other problems.:shakehead ) and couldn't fire.

I had a misfire from a bad intake gasket - it leaked enough to lean out the mixture.
You can check the gasket with carb cleaner, or such. Spray carefully around the intake gasket with the engine running, and if there's a leak, the revs will change.
