I have a 1971 Chevrolet Impala 2 door convertable I'm trying to sell. It has the 400 8cyl small block. It has been sitting for a couple of years but all numbers match. Does anybody have any advice or information about this car? How rare is this model/engine? How should i go about selling it? Any other random blurbs are appreciated.

'71 was a big car and may not be much of a collectors car but you can google for "classic cars" and Impala web pages, groups and forums there should be plenty of info out there.

I would have to disagree with that statement about it "not being much of a collector's car." It depends a lot where you live. I'm in Central NY the heart of "The Rustbelt" and I cannot remember the last time I saw a '71 except for he few car shows I attend each summer. A car like that would probably be in high demand in my area, whereas, according to your profile, you reside in Texas where there are probably hundreds of these cars still around. I agree though about looking around on the internet more to get an idea. A good place to start is the National Impala Association :http://www.nationalimpala.com/. The only problem there is they go up to 1970 in their club, but you still might be able to get more info there as many members probably own Impalas beyond 1970 along with ones they may own before that model year. You can also check out a recent edition of Hemmings Motor News and see what similar 1971 Impalas are fetching in the price range and where they are located. That would be a good starting point to get you going in the direction of determining what your car is worth.

I've been attending car shows for the last quarter century and I cannot think of one 70-71 Impala. Not saying there have not been any just I have not noticed them. Just seems theres not much of a market for the late sixties on up. The mid sixties and older or '94-'96 are pretty much the only ones I see lots of.

All numbers matching, all original, 400ci 2 barrel small block v8, been sitting for a few years, needs minor TLC. Mechanic's car, never seen snow, 86,482 actual miles. View additional pictures http://s152.photobucket.com/albums/s173/hanson5017/ (http://s152.photobucket.com/albums/s173/hanson5017/)
