Hi guys I wanted to do something different from my other red ferraris and Ive had the SAS transkit for a while so i decided to do a non realistic car but something someone could do if they had a roll of cash you could beat a baby seal to death with. So here it is a Ferrari 360 Challenge stradale convertable.
Painted in Tamiya blue pearl and cleard with 2 prt automotive. Hope you like. And if Auw12 sees this i guess you can add me to the list for the 60th anv. build :bigthumb:

Great paint job! Third brake light is crooked, lol. I want to say that is Tamiya, but I have never seen a Revell one in person.

I love the color, I'm thinking on a dark blue met for my 360 CS project, are you going to scratch up a front trunk area? your paint job loks great, as do the body mods, I've got some fitting to do on mine for the front bumper..

good luck man, looking forward to seeing more of it.

It is the tamiya kit. And yeah i know the third brake light is a little crooked but its not as bad as it looks in the pic because the engine lid isnt on right in the picture, but yeah didnt notice til after the clear. And yes i plan to scratch build the trunk (and if anyone knows how to make some good looking hinges im all ears). I forgot to mention that im also using the lions roar PE set and used the E-jan ferrari emblems (which looks really nice by the way) Im going to also use the unused challenge engine cover for a 360 modena race car that i have a set of decals for that i might try to complete at the same time as this to save time and materials.

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/380961360_engine_2.jpg
The seat i used MM spray i think dark tan and used some Crazy modelers metal transfers for the head rest although the passenger seat one didnt come out as well as the drivers but oh well.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/380961360_seats.jpg
The soft top done first covered in SMS spray flocking then airbrushed semigloss black because most all soft tops have the wet-looking shine to them

wooooow that looks real good. im currently building a black 360 modena and i also chose to carbon fibre that back piece. how did u get it to go into the tail lamp holes so good? i havent decided yet how im gonna do that. just put the decal on last night so im giving it some time to dry before i start cutting.

Thanks all! First i took a small bit of CF and kinda rolled it into a half cylinder and put that on the large part of the inner lamps and then let the middle part of it lay down with the micro sol then cut away the excess with a sharp exacto (if that makes any sense :screwy: ) Then i had a template that i maade before clearing and and put that on there just like you prolly have once it lays down over the majority of the pannel i cut the lamp section like star ( leaving like 6 or 8 individual little trinagles) and then worked each part of the cut into the holes. if you look close you can still kinda see the black on the lateral drivers side lamp, but the actual lamp should cover it.

The paint looks very good and the color suits this 360 very well. But isn't it easier to create hinges at the front first? You are risking to damage you're beautifull paintjob while hinging the boot. You're CF work looks really great and I like the looks of this car (especially the CF and the Lion Roar PE-set, which I have myself). Keep the progress going!

Well i still need to CF the underside of the hood and im going to do the hinges before doing that but while i do that im going to mask off the top that i already painted but i wanted to clear it while i was doing the two part automotive becaue its pretty nasty stuff and i have to mix about an airbrush cup full each time and it takes about a week to dry.

great work on the engine man, esp the attention payed to the cf emblem on the intake plenums, and the blue hoses. I'm on the fence about wiring mine too, but I think in the end it might look a little better with some wires. Anyway your engine is looking great, as well as your cf work. Also I saw the crossed flags on the center console where did that come from?(decal or p/e set?) Keep up the great work on it man..looking forward to seeing more..

Hi buddy~ I'm sorry I was very busy recently, so late for your thread. It's my pleasure to add you to the group build, thanks for entering!

Your project is very creative, from the idea to the model itself it's great! Nice color choice BTW, keep us posted! ;)

Here's a small stuff for your project, hope it's suitable.

Thanks again for the support guys, progress has been delayed due to recent exams but after tomorrow ill be back working on it again, then hopefully I can get back to my Turbo modified F50 GT :iceslolan that been sitting around for about four months. Godfather23 i chose not to use the flag decal because i wanted to keep the overall look of the car pretty dark and mean. And i was going to do a carbon fiber flag strip down it by carfully cutting the red and green parts out and laying them over the carbon part. but after i started cutting i came to my senses and relized that by doing that it would get rid of the red white green flag scheme so i ended that idea. Stryfe101 The cross flags decal is sraight from the kit.

Thanks Auw12 that looks outstanding, now i just have to figure out how to use it.

Another update. Finished the under tray in carbon, put carbon on the engine lid the spot in the middle will be heat shielding after i clear it, steering wheel carboned adn ready for some clear on it. and some progess on the red modena. there was some contamination on my blue hood so i tried to polish it out but it didnt turn out as shiny as the rest so i will reclear it aswell along with the carbon parts. Hope you guys like it.

Little update progress is still pretty slow due to many little complex CF pieces and running out of the high def stuff. But finished the dash, used SMS spray flock and made the vents with little plasticard pieces and a guitar string.

http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/380961360_vent.jpg
layed down the CF on the headlights actually alot easier than i thought, just placed a large piece over the whole thing and let it sink in then cut around the light areas and patched the rest with some small bits.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/380961360_headlights.jpg
Srayed the cabin floor semi gloss black and made the weld lines with some MM plastic glue let it set for a bit then worked it with a dental tool to get the effect.
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/502/380961360_cabin.jpg
Finished CF on Air box hopefully after all the CF parts are cleared it shoudl all come together pretty quick.

Well, first of all you are getting way too much great progress done way too fast! How come I can't do that?! :shakehead
Also, if you haven't yet built some "bonnet" hinges, I offer my method, which was particularly successful on my Tamiya Porsche 959. Pictures of that are here:
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=666106
Basically, I just use steel paper clips for hinges. They already have nice, even curved sections. Just use two clips, cut out the identical sized curves, (and leave plenty of excess), then use needlenose pliers to bend where necessary. I use styrene and superglue to attach the metal to the panels. I generally glue together two pieces of .04" styrene, wait for them to dry, drill a hole in the middle of this .08" "block", and then use it to mount the hinges to the body. Mounting to the trunk lid is even easier. Hope this not-so-good explanation helps!

Thanks for all the support guys i really cant wait to finish this one, i wanna see it all together with the wheels etc. I used the SMS high def carbon on all the parts except the rear grill for that i used the plain carbon to look more like a grill without actually doing one. And i just might try that paper clip hinge thing, but i need to get some pics of the actual things cuz i might try and do that too.
