rough idling

I have just bought a 1993 hyundai excel from an older lady with 54000km on it and the car is in excellent shape. I have replaced the sparkplugs and everything else looks fine. The care accelerates perfect with no problems but as i slow down the car idles rough and takes about 10 sec. to smooth out.
Any ideas?

Hi Jeff,
Have you checked the EGR valve? Sometimes it gets stuck open because of carbon deposits. You can either try cleaning it, or replacing it. A new one will probably cost between $65-$110 depending on where you buy it from. Faulty EGR valves can cause rough idles, and sometimes a reduction of power in the car.
