There will be two different models, one will be a traditional 911 with a six pot, and another will have an eight cylinder engine.

thanks for the info!

and

i´m not sure if the 8 cyl. engine will be called 998

crayzayjay

you're probably right, the 8-pot will be too different from the 911 to be called the same thing...

one thing's for sure... im glad Porsche are increasing their product line... not that i have anything against the 911 and Boxster, the 911 is my favourite car, its just that i love Porsche, and it seems there will soon be more models than ever! long live Porsche! :D

i would say it´s better for porsche not to make too many different models!!!
the 8 cyl engine model will start with a 8**

crayzayjay
12-01-2002, 08:37 AM
why? wouldnt it be great to have a range of fantastic Porsches?

Menu dei Motori
12-01-2002, 08:47 AM
i think so porsche will loose it´s name and exlusivity (???) cause there are too many

crayzayjay
12-01-2002, 09:20 AM
It wont lose its exclusivity if all the cars it makes are expensive and well-made...

the way you need to look at is Porsche conquering the world! :D

Menu dei Motori
12-01-2002, 09:22 AM
it´s not that i don´t like porsche but sportscar-company´s shouldn´t make too many different models!
maybe 1 or 2 more won´t be bad for porsche but not too many

crayzayjay
12-01-2002, 10:11 AM
Ferrari is making 4 at the moment: 360, 575M, 456 GT, and Enzo.
Before the Cayenne Porsche only had 2: 911 and Boxster!
I know there are many different versions of the 911 but its essentially the same car! i think its good for Porsche to expand its model range

Menu dei Motori
12-01-2002, 02:01 PM
yea 2 more models wouldn´t be bad!

crayzayjay

plus the Carrera GT is going to be incredible! :flash:

Menu dei Motori

crayzayjay
12-05-2002, 04:56 PM
I could! Carrera GT! Porsche is in my blood! :D more so than Ferrari

Menu dei Motori
12-06-2002, 07:41 AM
i probably would prefer it,too
the enzo is too extreme :D

crayzayjay
12-07-2002, 10:06 PM
The Carrera GT is a less extreme design, yes, and a much better looking one! :D

whether it will drive better remains to be seen, but i have full faith in Porsche. They have the best engineers in the world if you ask me :)

i doubt they tested it, the GT hasnt even been launched yet so i dont think they'd want to destroy the suspense and let a magazine drive it before its full launch

Being a big fan of the RS and GT3 cars, I can't wait for the release of the revamped 2003 GT3 and 997 GT3/RS variant and see how it compares to the 996 all-motor variant. I wonder if it will out do the GT3 broken record at Nordschliefe. I am very excited.... boy oh boy

It will be nice to see what happens.

I'm 100% certain it will break the current GT3 record at the 'Ring. After all, it has more power, better braking and better aerodynamics! That's worth three seconds at least! This is gonna be a stunning car.. lets hope the razor sharp handling is unchanged :D

I am very confident that the 2003 GT3 will be much better than the previous GT, but my main concern is that I hope the 997 all-motor speedster will be up to par or even better than the 2003 GT3.

crayzayjay
01-28-2003, 01:29 PM
I also believe (hope) the new GT3 will be better than the original, but it's NOT going to be much better. There's really very very little to improve on the GT3. In fact, all who drove it said they wouldnt change a thing. It's impossible to improve dramatically on such a magnificent car, its as simple as that. Having said that, it will be a little sharper and meaner in the important areas; that will cut a few tenths here and there, thats how evolution works.

The standard 997 is extremely unlikely to be at the level of the GT3, the GT3's an all-out racer special, if the standard car is faster than your "special", whats your "special" gonna be?

I guess you still don't understand what I am saying. I am wondering if the 997 was to have a GT3/RS variant, will it be up to par or surpass the 2003 GT3 or will Porsche drop a turkey instead?

Of course the 99 GT3 is a magnificent car, it is pure as you can get with a 996 I think. I guess when I said "much" you took it for a huge leap in speed and overall engineering effort. Well I guess I should watch the words I use when I post here because you seem to be an anal person. This is what happens when you go to automotive forums with people who are very picky with words and over analyze what others say I guess. You take things to literal, but please don't try to talk to me like I am some third grader. Thanks

Holy jesus... take it easy will ya? i didnt treat you like a third grader, and your reply is completely out of order. so i didnt get your sentence, so what? chill out, and dont talk to me like that.... youre calling me anal? im not. maybe you should watch your words, youre the one who doesnt seem to be able to convey his message. "i still dont understand what you said?" you only said it once! chill!

let this end now

I think that we need to concentrate on THIS one first! But in all seriousness what I'd like to see more than a new 911 from Porsche is some dedication to RACING. Daytona doesn't cut it boys. Don't let Audi have all the fun now.

Oh yeah. One more thing. The GT2 gets NO REAL RESPECT until it gets raced. It's pretty much just theoretical racecar in my eyes. Not proven at all. Well that's enough blabbing from me. I'm annoying myself.
