I have a 95 Saturn sl2.Replaced the fuel filter.Crankshaft sensor and now the fuel pump. This car will start right up but then dies.Sometimes it will take the gas for awhile as long as I feather the pedal. It did have a code 13 or 14.But theres no codes now.It starts up runs for about 5 to 10 seconds then dies.Is there a sensor that may be bad that will cuase this not to run?It doesnt sound like there is a vacuum leak and all wires are tight.Im stumped. It wont idle but as long as i keep the gas pedal down it will stay running but just bounces all over. The shift lift stays on now too thats never happened .

Your Code 13 and 14 are Oxygen sensor and ECTS ( engine coolant temperature sensors ) related.

I would change the ECTS and ensure its connector is in good condirion. It is located on the driver side cylinder head in front of the EGR. It has two wires to it. The one wire one is for your temperature gauge. If your ECTS is original, they are resin tipped and are known to corrode and cause problems. Get a new brass tipped one from a dealer ( $15 ) and replace with a 13 mm deep six point socket.

Yeah, I was reading the different post on here and decided that maybe the coolant temp sensor was at fault.I bought one last night and installed it.It made no difference whatsoever..It is doing the same thing. It will start right up,take the gas but then suddenly die.It will start right back up again but the same thing.
Thanks for your advice.I just dont know if a sensor would do this or not.It doesnt run long enough to get the engine warmed up.

Pull your sparK plugs, clean and re-gap to .40 Pull the spark plug wire one at a time at the ignition coil. Bet the coil nearest the battery is loaded with corrosion. DO a light sand paper job on the coil tips. How does the connector for the ECTS? Any green grime there? How does the connector look for the IAT ( Intake Air Temperature ) down near the air filter?

I pulled the plug wires.Yeah the terminals were filthy.Cleaned them up.I replaced the ground strap and relocated it.The one from the batterey. It was all corroded and I think that was making the lights go on and off when it started and was running. The shift light was always flickering on and off and the check engine light too.It would come on while it was running and stay on but when I shut it down or it shut off there wasnt any codes. Now that stopped doing that stuff. It will sometimes start up and run perfect. No check engine lights and it will run good.Take the gas just like everything is normal.Next time you start it the thing starts and shuts right down

Intermittent running of the car would generally indicate there is/are some bad connection(s)

Next time you get it running good, take it to an auto place that tests electrical systems on the car. You may have some bad connections at the alternator and/or bad battery.

Sometimes corrosion gets down past the connector on the battery cables even though the covering looks like new.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.Yeah he said the ignition module was bad.I put one in and I have it runnning but it still isnt right yet.I replaced the oxygen sensor, the coil packs and the map sensor and the crankshaft sensor. Also the coolant temp sensor and the throttle positioning sensor. It will start up now and run.It will idle and take the gas.But the check engine light will still flash on and off when I rev the engine and the shift light will keep blinking while reving. At idle neither come on.It kinda sputters more than misses.I replaced the plugs and put new wires on also.I have a idle air control valve I think its called.I am going to put that on tonight. If that doesnt do it my friend at work has the portable scanner equipment and I'll get him to come over and look at it.
The mechanic at the shop said that it showed a code 41 and 48.Said that it was an ignition control circuit. He said that it could be a module, loose or corroded wires.Buthe thought that it was the module.Anyway thats where I am right now.
Thanks
