I just finished the fix for the p0171/0174 (Thanks everyone), on my 2000 Windstar 3.8l --118k miles. I got the CEL light reset, but after about 60 miles the CEL comes on again. I got the codes read-- P1409. The clerk @ Advance said it might be the gas cap was on too loose, so I took it off, reattached and reset the CEL. The next time I started her up, (about 60 miles), the CEL was on again. I have no doubt that somehow I fouled something up in the 0171 fix. Anyone have any insight into this code? I have googled and search on this site without much luck. Thanks for any help.

Hi
P1409 is "EGR vacuum regulator solenoid circuit". I would hope that it is simply an overlooked electrical connection from your isolator bolt fix. I don't have a totally clear recollection of the position of the solenoid on the 2000 - I would still think it to be found on the back of the intake manifold as it is vacuum operated. Check to see that you got it plugged back in after the fix. The fault light, I think is the PCM indicating it has no signal from the solenoid and therefore cannot control it, and thereby the EGR valve.

You hit it busboy4. Thanks! I did not reconnect the electrical connection. No CEL, for now.
