97 Windstar power locks problem

When I pushed the button to lock the doors (engine stop, parking) all the motors from the doors started to activate open continousely...without stopping. ..like somebody is keeping pushed the unlock button.
Only after I keep pushed for 10 seconds the lock button the motors stop in open position. Any attempt to lock again is engaiging this "crazy" cycle from the begining.
What could be the cause? If I go to a dealer they will start changing the assembly door and I'm looking for a less expenssive measure....I'm in Canada and lately we have -25 celsius...is that a root cause?
Any help in this matter will be appreciated.

Start by cleaning the contacts on your slider door. There should be four "pads" and four spring loaded "pins" that contact them. I have heard that pencil erasers do a good job oddly enough. Or contact cleaner or WD-40 on a rag should do it. I think I have dealt with a similar problem on my '96, however it was related, I think, to the "auto lock" system and happened randomly without any input to the switch. As I recall cleaning the door contacts took care of it as the system was getting intermittent open/closed indications.

It didn't work but thanks anyway...it looks more like an actuator problem from one of the front doors so I had to remove the fuse for the mean time....after the temperature outside is getting better (positive temperatures) I will try again...it's very common for minus 25 celsius.

I had this happen once. The problem was a low battery. (was working on the van with the doors open for about an hour)

Thanks...you might be right because my battery is close to die...I thought that if everythink else is working then the battery is still ok but is tired in the morning when I'm trying to start the car....Thanks again, I'm going to change the battery first. Good point................
