I have a 98 Windstar GL and the blower fan only works on high setting. Does not work on medium or low. How can I fix it.

It is likely the blower motor resistor that has gone south. It controls the motor speed through a series of resistors. When the blower is on high the resistors are out of the circuit and so the motor will turn. According to my wiring diagram book that little unit is on the passenger side behind the glove box. This is on a '99 so I'm thinking it is probably the same on yours. I believe they are fairly cheap, around $10-$12, but may be a little difficult to replace due to the location. I've not had any problems with mine so am not familiar with the procedure. Might be someone else will have more info. good luck.

I had the exact same issue with my '96....
I have pictures posted that show the replacement.
The link in my signature will take you to my pictures.
The blower motor dropping resistor is located up under the dashboard....behind the glove compartment.
I found that the plug was stuck on.....and somewhat hard to pull off.
Other than that.....it was a easy repair.

Hi,
Thank you so much for the info on the blower problem. We now know where to look and what to buy. The pictures were very helpful.
